    PS4 Controller Problem on PC (windows), Audio cuts in and out and game lags

    I have this weird issue that started a few days ago (after patch 6.45) where I play like normal but all of a sudden my audio cuts out, my character can still move but when I try and use actions or use any menu I can't, the game lags or freezes for a few seconds and then comes back, like normal, and it happens over and over again.

    I looked all around the internet and my guess is that it has something to do with PS4 controller on PC or something. I tried everything, changing audio setting in game, on the PC audio settings, disabling my controller audio on settings, using the DS4Windows software, moving the cable, connecting it to another port, ETC. And nothing seems to solve the issue, I don't know what to do. Has anyone else encountered this issue ?

    I have even tried playing without the controller, that seems to help, but I am not sure as I haven't tried playing with keyboard and mouse for long as I am used to playing with controller (I used to play on PS4 before changing to PC) and since I don't know how to play properly with Mouse & Keyboard I haven't tried doing instanced duties yet.

    If anyone knows how to solve this issue I will greatly appreciate it. I am currently re-installing the game as it got so much out of hand that I felt like there was no other option as to uninstall and install again.

    Thanks for the help.

    have you tried updating your ps4 controller ? In some cases the update firmware fixes such issues. I am not familiar with third party software ds4windows as I use my controller directly with pc .

    Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Forums.

    We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with controller lag on the game. Please reply back with the following information so we may further troubleshoot the issue:

    Platform (Steam/Mac/Windows):
    Any error message(s) received?
    Wired or wireless connectivity for controllers:
    Are you using a bluetooth dongle via USB 2.0 or 3.0 or on built into the motherboard with a bluetooth card?
    Connected devices to the computer when using the controller:
    Are you using multiple controllers when doing this?
    Do you have any other games or layouts running when playing the game such as Steam, Discord, etc?
    Does your connection dip or is the lag related to the connection to the server/internet rather than actual input lag?
    Wired or wireless Internet:
    Internet Service Provider:

    We look forward to your reply back.

    UPDATE :

    Apparently it wasn't related to the controller, or at least it doesnt appear to be it, as, I uninstalled the game and Installed it back in and tried playing with the controller, it happened again, everything, so I tried playing without controller, I played the dungeon of Aetherfont and teh issue happened again, this time with the controller unplugged and the issue happened again.

    the issue is still the same, game audio gets cut out for a few seconds, game lags, my character can still move but everything audio related as well as any ability effect or animation related to my character is not present and then everything comes back, making playing rwally bothersome and difficult. this time I am not sure what it can be.

    it happens regardless of controller or not, that or once I connect the controller once, the issue stays on.

    Good morning! Thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    We apologize for any inconvenience you have been experiencing. There are a number of situations that can cause the error you are describing. Please try the following troubleshooting methods in order to resolve the issue:

    - Please note, programs with overlays (such as Discord) may interfere with game data. Please try closing such programs and try again.
    - Please make sure that the gamepad setting is enabled: System Configuration > Gamepad Settings > "Enable gamepad."
    - Try plugging the controller into different ports (both front and back).
    - Make sure all drivers for the controller are fully up to date, even if the device is new often the drivers are not updated while it is in storage. Most times, the controller will work without them in a "plug and play" style, but for an issue like this, we must recommend that you install the official drivers for the controller.
    - Hide DS4 controller, please try enabling/disabling this option.
    - Disable all other device drivers, leaving the mouse, keyboard, and controller as the only active devices.
    - Try unplugging all other devices and only plugging in the mouse, keyboard, and controller.
    - Make sure Windows has been fully updated from the Microsoft/Windows Update website.
    - Re-calibrate the controller under the System Configuration Menu under the Gamepad Settings tab.
    - Delete all USB and gamepad devices via the Device Manager. Restart your computer and allow the device to rediscover the devices and reinstall the drives.
    - Fully uninstall the controller, reboot the computer, and reinstall the controller.
    - If you have a specialized gaming keyboard you may want to try using a different keyboard to be sure there are no conflicts with that device.
    - Launch FINAL FANTASY XIV preferably with a cleanboot. To open a cleanboot, please open the Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the "Start Up" tab. Disable every nonessential program here, and restart the computer.
    - If possible, please try using other controllers.

    Should the issue still persist after attempting all the listed troubleshooting, we advise that you reinstall the game (make sure to remove or rename the 'Final Fantasy XIV' folder in the 'My Documents' > 'My Games' folder). You can re-download the game client via the following link for the Windows client: http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na

    We recommend that the game be installed on the C: drive, as installing it on any drive that is not the default may cause more problems.

    Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums!

    i had the same issue for a long time till i stumbled uppon a post on reddit.
    it cause of windows (at least for me)

    Start -> search services -> find "WindowsEndpointBuilder" right click and restart. (hit yes or ok on the popup) ** do this after you've logged in game with your char.

    ive also made a PowerShell script just so i dont have to do all this every time (remove if its not allowed to share this)

    ===1st part forces Admin rights cause its needed since its a windows service===

    Function Check-RunAsAdministrator()
    {
    #Get current user context
    $CurrentUser = New-Object Security.Principal.WindowsPrincipal $([Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent())

    #Check user is running the script is member of Administrator Group
    if($CurrentUser.IsInRole([Security.Principal.WindowsBuiltinRole]::Administrator))
    {
    Write-host "Script is running with Administrator privileges!"
    }
    else
    {
    #Create a new Elevated process to Start PowerShell
    $ElevatedProcess = New-Object System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo "PowerShell";

    # Specify the current script path and name as a parameter
    $ElevatedProcess.Arguments = "& '" + $script:MyInvocation.MyCommand.Path + "'"

    #Set the Process to elevated
    $ElevatedProcess.Verb = "runas"

    #Start the new elevated process
    [System.Diagnostics.Process]::Start($ElevatedProcess)

    #Exit from the current, unelevated, process
    Exit

    }
    }

    #Check Script is running with Elevated Privileges
    Check-RunAsAdministrator

    #Place your script here.
    $ServiceName = "AudioEndpointBuilder"
    $Service = Get-Service -Name $ServiceName

    #stop dependentservices
    $Service.DependentServices|Stop-Service
    #stop the service itself
    $Service|Stop-Service
    #restart the dependent services
    $Service.DependentServices|Start-Service
    #restart the service itself
    $Service|Start-Service
