There should at least be 1 plate for each job, but there isn’t

Reviving for evercold
New job out and still at 20 plates. Sigh

We're at a point where they have to adress this at the JP fanfest, we will be at 23 non-limited combat jobs in Evercold while still being at 20 plates. So we'll be lacking 3 plates if you only play non-limited combat jobs, if we add the limited jobs it becomes 5 and if we add the crafters and gatherers it is a whopping 16. Even if you made one glam for all crafters and all gatherers respectively you would still lack 7 plates. Please fix Square Enix.

I would like to see us get at LEAST 40 plates, and preferably 50 plates total.
40 plates would be enough for every single job (both combat and crafter/gatherer as well as counting the two new ones) to have one plate plus 4 left over for whatever.
50 would give us 14 additional plates so people can have all their fun side glams or a few extra plates for specific expansion glams, etc. and would hopefully future proof enough that we're not lamenting the lack of plates for another expansion or two at least.

1 plate per existing job should be really the minimum in my personal opinion.
Would be cool to get some extra for fun or casual glamours.![]()

I have a theory as to why the developers are so hesitant to increase the number of plates. Full disclosure, I'm not a developer and could be wrong, I just wanted to find a logical-sounding explanation.
I suspect there are two reasons, one big and one small.
The big one is probably a limit to how much character data can be transferred during world/DC visits.
Unlike gearsets which they increased to 100 a while back despite them storing more data; glamour plates seem to be stored server-side, whereas gearsets are stored locally on your machine. But what about Island Sanctuary, or the housing capacity increase? Those are also server-side data - but unlike glamour plates they aren't transferred with your character when you visit other worlds/DCs. But what about the contents of your glamour dresser? That's also server-side and does get transferred with your character, and they increased that a while ago. Why can't they do so again, along with the number of plates? Well,
If the aforementioned transfer limit exists then the 800 increase might've already hit it, considering they haven't done so again despite many people asking. As for the plates, that leads into the second, smaller reason; the UI.
Currently the plates are displayed using horizontal rows of numbered buttons. Increasing it from 15 to 20 was a simple matter of filling the empty space. Further expansions will require making the menu taller to add another row, which not only requires more dev work but isn't really sustainable long term.
I suspect it's this combination of a limited amount of character data they can transfer during world visits and the non-future-proof design of the glamour UI that are responsible for our woes.
One solution would be to redesign the UI and store glamour plates client-side like gearsets - then we could have an unlimited number. Problem is, client-side plate files could be manipulated to apply items and dyes you don't own. Gearsets get around this by checking your armoury chest contents upon application, so why not similarly check the glamour dresser before applying a plate? Even if they could... dyes. You can apply dyes directly to a glamour plate, and there's no item in the dresser to check that against - so unless they remove that feature and require dyes to be applied to the items themselves, that might be a problem. Sadly this also does little to address the limited dresser size, since that definitely can't be stored locally.
But yeah, that's my hypothesis. Technically the new character customization such as Au Ra horns and teleport animations would also come under this presumed character data limit, but maybe those are smaller? I dunno.
All that being said, they really gotta find a way to increase the number of plates somehow otherwise no matter how the game "evolves" in Evercold it's gonna stick out like a sore thumb.
Bring back 6.0 Dragoon.

I think 50 would be a good number of glamour plates, especially since that's how many you get in WoW per character.
