Thread: 18.5% drop in players in only 8 weeks

The game isn't releasing a whole lot of worthwhile content. And its trending to become more solo friendly. Everyone knows this. There are far better solo games than this one thats for sure. Therefore, the solution would be for this game to become an ever better MMO but nope. It's trying to be a better solo game and because of its MMO roots its always going to be subpar at that.

True, this game is getting more solo friendly but then again it is easier for some who does not have all day to wait for a party to come up or those who enjoyed doing content by themselves or does not have any friends to go with, even those who does not trust PF. To me, to each its own in this matter and what should not affected the numbers at all.

For content, I keep wandering how much more content players want. I think this game has more content than any other MMOs I ever seen and we want more??? That can burn out a person in a heartbeat. They should be looking to improve on the content they have now (Better Awards, New Achievements, etc, etc, etc).

Its perfectly normal to play other games, especially new games that interest you. To take a break, and play something else.

Many people do this, Unless you only play 1 game your whole life.

It's not toxic positivity, more so than denial.

Not terribly surprising.

The patches in EW have been terrible at actually keeping people playing, which isn't exactly a good business model for a subscription based game. Back in the day, I had trouble tearing my friends away from FF14 to do other things. Now I have way more trouble getting them to log in and play it. Even the people I know who really love this game are having a hard time justifying how dire the EW postgame has been.

If this expansion was truly as bad as some want the public to think, shouldn't the 6.45 numbers be lower than the 5.45 numbers considering the praise that Shadowbringers garnered?


My guess is they're aiming for solo game play with an immersive social experience. It's really hard to say.

The point isn’t that EW has overall higher players than ShB (which is to be expected because EW had the hype from ShB and WOW’s premature collapse while ShB came off the relatively flat SB), it’s that EW patches aren’t holding the playerbase like previous expansion patches are, people are unsubbing quicker and for longer
