Does CBU3-SE hire teams outside their timezone?

I was thinking if they had international teams doing various content outside of their main team in Japan that maybe content schedules could actually be a bit more shorter.

Like the Main Team in Japan handles the major content
Team A in Europe handles Side Project A
Team B in Sweden handles Side Project B, etc.

for content I kinda doubt it. for other things relating to the game, graphics sound etc, its possible, but hard to say. usually its easier for meetings and things if they also arent having to juggle timezones. thats not to say they do not, but I know the company I work for, usually the developers on projects are all in the same time zone. the overall manager is in New Zealand, but they are the ones that have to be up at 2 am or whatever for meetings, not the developers.

since the stated reason for lengthening sprint cycles has been developer health, I lean towards them all being in Japan or that timezone

They have a separate team for Korea and i think China? But in case of Korea i think it was more glam related, that's why Korea always gets the neat glam for the Mogstore first.

Other than that i don't think they have other teams than their Japan team for the main games development. I think japanese gaming companies in general outsource not that much at all.

No, they strictly hire people to work in Japan for their main development.

But they do outsource a lot to companies, probably foreign companies. Half the credits are full of the employees of companies they outsourced to.

So if you want to develop something for CBU3 while living internationally, your best bet is convincing them to outsource to your company for its services.

The European and US offices handle other games such as Outriders, the translation teams, local lawyers and community teams. This has been clear from what jobs are offered by these offices over the years.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

Kinda sorta not really? China and Korea are different teams, yes, but they don't work for SE, SE licenses the game to them and they do their own versions of the client, because China and Korea have laws about online games and they pay a subscription per hour instead of per month. Part of the draw of this is that those teams make a lot of Mog Store glams, which if it proves popular enough the "main" team will add to our store.

Outside of that, yeah, 100% it's just the CBU3 team with some stuff outsourced to other companies. The more obvious answer would be to enlarge CBU3 since they don't just work on XIV but also worked on Dragon Quest Builders 2 and FFXVI. With XVI recently released, and unless there's a DQB3 (hint, <kupo!>ing, HINT) I suspect their main project rn is back into XIV full-time, though since they've kept their ears open about XVI DLC...
