That, too. Honestly, its really both sides that are the problem. Some Hardcore players whine a out RNG in certain jobs when that was one of the fun things about them, while some Casuals screech when something is even a little to difficult for them to handle.

I just want jobs to vary in difficulty depending on which job you pick to play and for them to remain fun to boot. White Mage should obviously be the beginner heal job, while Astrologian/Scholar should be naturally harder to play with, as an example.

The devs obsession with balance is also a huge issue, too.

Thus, Ast lost Royal Road and its Cards all thanks to the "Fishing for Balance" Meta.
Combo'd with Dragoons Buffs and Ninjas Sneak Attack.
And back then Scholar was a Gloried Dot Mage with Summoner so it added more DPs

Hell, some jobs are still direct upgrades over others right now. *Cough cough Warrior*
Well, then here's your choice. Balance of jobs within same role WILL mean homogenization because differences between jobs will always inevitably mean one is somewhat better than the other in some situation, and that, in turn, will make weaker jobs not meta and unaccepted. Fun is not balanced, plainly put. That's why games are often seen as 'balancing the fun away' when they are reducing amount of strong unique things and adding homogenization, it is impossible to achieve real balance without losses in uniqueness between things that are supposed to be balanced against one another.

I wouldn't describe Warrior being able to do everything Dark knight does but better as ''fun'' yet here we are now. And i feel stupid for playing the wrong job every time i enter any form of content to tell you the truth.
But at least Dark knight is still being taken into endgame i suppose, which shows that just being worse is not enough to warrant jobs not being taken. Classes are only really excluded if they're just.. bad.. Which can be fixed with number adjustments.
What it basically boils down to, is people don't want to take 7.5 jobs worth of throughput when they can have 8.

1 - Overworld content. I'm pretty much only on the field during MSQ and the second that's over I'm never out there again. Between mounts and flying...all the mobs on the field are pretty much a non-issue.

2 - Vagrant Story crossover. Please.

Welp, there goes my top 3, more or less, lol. +1 Like.

That's a weird way to spell "Let's optimize nominally everything we can to cover mistakes on behalf of my few friends and I" PF-makers.

The actual hardcore or individually hyper-optimizing players were generally also among the first to break metas and discover alternatives to them.

Uh, the actually hardcore endgame people weren't really that bothered with PF FYI. Back when excluding jobs was a common thing, it was pretty easy for a genuinely hardcore player to get a shot in a progression focused raiding FC down to them running sometimes as many as 4 complete teams as well as using sales to trial people.

Excluding jobs from PF was more down to more casual/midcore people looking at the meta from said hardcores and completely misunderstanding it.

Case in point, patch 3.5. WHM was viewed as being at it's worst and had HUGE mp issues in A12S to the point where it would have to flat out drop GCDs to conserve MP at times. Elsewhere in the game? Not nearly so problematic. Then Zurvan comes along with the whole skip soar meme and WHM rapidly gets excluded from PFs as the norm.

Why? It wasn't MP, Zurvan was stop start enough that WHM was fine for it. Raid damage to skip soar? It was quickly proven that you could skip soar with literally just tanks. No DPS, no cards.

Do you think that hardcore players actually needed AST cards to skip soar? Spoiler, they didn't. It was just bads. Hardcore or casual doesn't come into it.
