Late ARR added the Gold Saucer and the Odin fight that drops his glam.

Late HW had the most experimental stuff. There's the weekly goblin quest which gives unique accessories of an item level equal to that expansion's savage and augmented tomes.
Also the v2 remake of diadem which had a raid in the middle, dropped ultra rare weapons which were 5 item level higher than savage... causing the parser people to complain that RNG loot prevented them recording the best scores on their 3rd party parser log site. They were called Coven weapons, IL 280.

What i kinda miss from the days back then was the second dungeon we would get with every patch. Still sad that they cut that out in ShB. It's kinda sad to see the same dungeon over and over in Expert for months and months without end.

Seriously, I don't even know where people get the idea that 7.0 is going to fix or even partially fix the problems with this game, it's not just one or two people, it's like the majority of the playerbase.

If you don't like the game at all, unironically save yourself the money and quit now because at this point this game is irredeemable. There's literally no point in waiting for 7.0 to fix anything. Spoiler: they won't. Only reason to stick to this game is for secondary, non-game purposes.

Let me just spoil the ending for all of you: FF14 is going to start failing, slowly, Square Enix is going to put this on maintenance mode in like 8.0 or 9.0 or something, maybe they'll try to revitalize it but fail.

CBU3 has like literally no idea how to make interesting progression systems, there is not a single exploratory content or horizontal content that succeeded with the entire playerbase. They just don't know how. They also fired some devs and leads who disagreed with the vision of the game (rumor), clearly they're not open to feedback either. So don't huff the copium really, no need to wait for 7.0. It's already over.

Actually considering the favoritism of the previous expansion, I feel like we're in the Battle for Azeroth phase with Shb being Legion. That means 7.0 will the worst yet with Shadowlands and the game will finally start getting good again with 8.0 Dragonflight

WotLK and ShB are almost 1:1 comparisons in my mind for the changes they made to their respective games, as well as being highly regarded for narrative. Cata and EW both came after with narratives that were relatively unpopular and the gameplay changes that the previous expansion had implemented were starting to age poorly. 7.0 hasn't been announced yet, but if we end up going somewhere that comes completely out of left field and seems like a joke... Well, we'll find out soonTM.

It would honestly be pretty funny if FFXIV did directly follow in the footsteps of Blizzard's WoW.
So....next expansion would be fun, but have a Horrific Narritive that blatantly steals from somebody else (Perhaps the Dragons return ala Dragonflight) and Fordola or Kryile are our Silvanas and Golbez is the Jailer.
Then 8.0 is XIVs Dragonflight where they mostly fix the issues, but the playerbase is smaller.

People are gonna shit on this response, but to be fair when was the last time any staff member even implied they were looking at this place outside of the one mod in the tech support forum who mostly helps with troubleshooting and moving threads around? Nothing against him, but I'm talking about a reply from like... a developer or something. For example, there's this super old thread asking for unlocked hempen sets across races, and in that thread an actual staff account replied saying they'd look into it. That is the most recent thread I can immediately think of where I saw a reply from someone who might actually work on the game. It was made back in like 2015. And as we all know, the hempen sets are still race-locked.

Like, if we had any developer come in and even say "sup" in a thread, we'd at least know that someone at CBU3 was reading our feedback and I think that would go a mile for the morale around here. As it stands, this place feels more like a venty echo chamber where people just scream into the wind, feeling with 99.9% certainty that nobody's listening and nobody cares.
