Are there really that many healer mains playing at Savage level that aren’t willing to flex their job within the role though? Especially in this era with how homogenised everything is, that just seems odd to me.

In ShB, I flex accordingly to what the PF doesn't have and/or what my first static co-healer felt like playing for each session.
In EW Asphodelos, I spent the first half of the tier's lifetime as an AST 'main' because my previous static co-healer wants to get into playing SGE. He eventually decides it's not for him and went back to being WHM, with me settling on SCH once again.
In EW Abyssos, I liked to 'meme' my static's reclear sessions by playing a 'healer roulette' (letting my static roll a dice to decide which healer I'm playing for the session). Never been as good as SCH but hey, ez clear is a clear.

Almost every healer mains that I know are willing to flex usually between 2 from 4 healers we have as of now. WHM & SGE are their most common pick unironically. The only healer main that I know as of now who's unwilling to flex to other healer is my current cohealer. At first he had an interest to learn AST, but quickly turned off by the carpa tunnel inducing reopeners.

AST mains will generally flex to WHM but rarely flex to shield healers unless they miss noct
WHM mains will flex to SGE but won’t flex to SCH or AST
SCH mains will flex to all other healers but prefer AST the least
SGE mains will flex to WHM or SCH but not AST

As an EX ast main that loved noct sect I actually would go ast over whm or sch anyday. sch is my worst healer in any content and whm is simply just boring. But if a pf wanna sch then ill do ast so not a big lost for me even though playing cards now feel so unawarding unlike stormblood and heck even sbh still feel some what ok to get seals for divination, Ew have me be forgetting sometimes cards exist since lady and lord got rework back to stormblood effects but with aoe now on em since both those use to give the 8% buff in sbh

An alternate way of thinking about this I guess... Have you raided with some regularity with a healer main that was entirely unwilling and unable to flex if even within the shield/pure healer split?

Personally I have to go back to ARR + Gordias and in fairness, the Gordias one was because I was covering a prog team's SCH for a week. The content was too rough to start switching jobs multiple times mid prog when the race was on at the time.

No. Well, YES insomuch as I've had an experience like it. But I haven't really.

I don't raid in general, and I do PF. Closest I've had is being a sub for my FC's C Static, and the other Healer of the group was a SGE-only Healer. And the one I was subbing in for was a WHM-only Healer.

(It occurs to me, that for a scrub casual, I tend to have more in common with the more hardcore types in this community. Other than in mindset. Funny that, eh?)
