Would love to Co-op with Trusts

I'd love it if there were a way to enter Trust Dungeons with multiple players, for the times when you don't have a full party of friends and aren't feeling up to playing with strangers. Right now Trusts are always:
    • 1 player and 3 NPC's
So this would essentially mean adding the option to do it with:
    • 2 players and 2 NPC's
    • 3 players and 1 NPC
If that's something that wouldn't take an unreasonable amount of effort for the devs to add, it would make me very happy!

My #1 most wanted thing with Duty Support. I want to be able to use Duty Support to fill in missing spots when I play with my hubby.

most likely it would take an unreasonable amount of effort. which is why they've never programmed it in (at least so far).

Possibly effort, but I choose to believe it's a matter of tuning. Trust/Support runs are designed and tuned for a run to take a particular amount of time. By knowing and having all player jobs balanced, NPCs can be tuned around that, leading to each run being intended to take roughly the same-ish time, evidenced by the sliding power scale of NPCs (seriously, stop attacking like normal and watch their damage rocket up, or watch all the 1's fly if you put maximum effort into rotations).

Adding in more players to mix this balance means not having the same control over that timing. And the whole intention is to make sure NPC runs take longer than an actual party put together. This is a known thing. Trusts/Support exists as an option, but it's supposed to be the worse option to encourage filing more players through Duty Finder.

Adding the ability to have more players mixed means running the risk of that option being faster than full player groups, encouraging the meta to shift towards "it's faster/easier to just do it like this."
It also runs the risk of being exceptionally slower than current Trusts/Support, if both/3 players happen to play particularly badly, without the full complement of NPCs to pick up the slack, leading to a poorer experience for those players.

This theory is also supported by BLU being unable to utilize these ostensibly single-player options. With a wide power margin, there's no way to balance NPCs to maintain that intended timing with BLU's kit.

tl;dr: Trusts are tuned to clear dungeons in [x] minutes, at a reasonable pace; bringing friends would upset that balance.

This is something I've been wanting for a while. Would be a great addition to the Trust feature.

ESO does this and it be kinda neat.

Although I would go a step further and allow us to use our custom retainers as battle trusts/companions. Im tired of my feisty little chocobo

Agreed. Had two friends (married couple) that I tried to get into this game, but what turned them off of it was all the solo instances. They like playing games together, so being forced not to do so is what drove them away from it pretty early on. And there are friends groups of 2-3 people (or people that play in numbers less than 4 or 8) where it would be amazing if they could do Trust-type stuff to fill in the extra slots.

As I understand it SE explained in the past why this is actually not possible, that the way Trust/Duty Support NPCs are designed to follow your character's actions and movements and having more than one player causes the AI to get confused and behave irratically as a result (namely, they glitch and fail mechanics or don't move the way they're supposed to).

Of course it's probably not a problem that wouldn't be solveable with further tweaking of the system, but I think SE just doesn't consider it worth the effort, especially as the whole point of the Trust/Duty Support system in the first place is meant to be simply a way of helping players get through story content without having to roadblock themselves due to being unable to get parties for it, and not a way of allowing you to duo with your friends and "fill in the blanks" in the party you couldn't otherwise fill normally. So I do not see them changing this.

I have wanted this for a long time I tend to duo a lot with my husband so having this option and even just adding one trust in the mix if you had say 3 would be really nice ^O^
