    Offline status

Before someone jumps to conclusions immediately, no I'm not asking for an offline version of the game. I'd just appreciate it if I can turn my online status to offline while still in-game. Sometimes, I just want to log in and do my own stuff away from friends and fc members who're trying to catch up with me.

You can always use the do not disturb option. Not quite the same but should meet the same goal.

I have thought of that, but it still tells people that you're online. I want an option where people don't know if I'm online so that I can carry on with my own stuff without getting questions like: "Why haven't you responded?" and stuff like these.

I don't really want to deal with this kind of stuff, and even removing people from your friend list won't remove you from their end, which is why I think this might also help people with stalking issues.

The sad smily symbol always seems like somethings wrong and people wonder. Also people still see you 'online' and maybe feel activly rejected.

It makes no sense to be offended when someone just wants a little bit time alone.
But sadly many people get offended by this.

It could help to have some kind of 'ghost status/mode', where you are online, but invisible for others. At the same time others also have to be invisible for the player thats beeing in ghost mode,
because otherwhise people could abuse this for stalking. Que for groups for dungeons etc not possible in ghostmode.

So people could do some stuff alone, without getting interrupted and without other people get offended. : )

Exactly my thought. I know some people who get excited when I log in, but sometimes I just want to stay away to do whatever I want without hurting their feelings.

There's a difference between sending a tell or a greeting to someone online and not getting a response Vs them not logging in, to begin with. The former is a lot worse than the latter.

With respect, if someone asks you why you haven't responded when you've clearly set your status to Busy, that person isn't respecting a boundary you've set. If there's any confusion on their end, a one-time conversation that amounts to "sometimes I don't have energy for other people and need space to myself" should clear things up. And that's a conversation you can have with them later, when you're up for socializing.

It would be nice if an Invisible/Offline option was added, but until that happens I would recommend making space for yourself to be alone in the game. Make one of your chat tabs not include linkshells, FC, whispers/tells, etc, so that you can't even see interactions from others, and then when you set yourself to Busy switch to that chat tab. In your settings turn off the audio alerts from whispers/tells. Then you can carry on with your stuff without being disturbed by others.

An important part of having healthy and positive relationships with others is being able to set boundaries and have those boundaries be respected. If your friends can't respect your boundaries, in that moment they're not being good friends. You deserve space, and you don't need an excuse to take it. The friends that are worth keeping around will understand and respect that.

This is why I have a character on a server by themselves with no FC and no friends. When I want to play alone and do my own thing I can.

You could make another character to do things on with the current setup. But you may just need to sit down and have a chat and explain that you value them as a friend but sometimes you just want to do your own thing when you're in game. If they can't respect that and still pressure you, then maybe reconsider if they should still be a friend.

I have no problem to tell people to bugger off so I can do my own thing. However I can see it being a useful tool for others and no idea why they don't implement it.

When it comes to issues of Housing or Stalking...they do everything wrong.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
