The kind of feedback that Square Enix listens to

Pretty sure it was more than just the JP community that was outraged by both of those things.

Further, the lack of incorporating your feedback is not the same as them not listening. They are under no obligation to incorporate them. They can listen, they can read it, but it doesn't mean they're going to do anything about it - Especially if they don't agree with the direction.

If there's an outrage behind something, especially to the extent of which you have highlighted then obviously that will be actioned given that it has a more objective detriment to both the game and the community than quite a few of the feedback they supposedly don't listen to. Whether I agree or disagree with some of those points and whether I would see them as an issue is an entirely different matter seeing as it is ultimately their own direction/vision they're following.

Indeed, they are following their own direction and vision, but it is not "simplicity" or "streamlining".

What do those words mean when it comes to corporate management and accounting? Cost-cutting. They do not listen to feedback because of "simplicity"; they cite that reason because "simplicity" saves them money.

The mentor system has been in shambles since forever, same with Raid finder and high end duty finder content. Yet nothing ever changes when this feedback is given year after year because JP doesn't complain about it. Same with NA having more players than JP yet new servers get added to JP first before new servers can get added to NA.
While I'm mentioning servers, the Oceana data center in itself seems to exist entirely because JP players were upset at having to play with non JP speakers, so they were pushed to their own data center to segregate them from the Japanese players.

Fact is when JP asks for something and whines, they get it. You can post on the forums all day in the EN community for years, and the devs will never read it because they never leave the JP servers or the JP forums.

I also find it interesting that some people are like they are making the game for us so they should listen to our feedback. Yes they are making a game to be consumed however they also still have artistic direction or a project direction they want to adhere to that’s in their vision or scope for the game. I’m someone who thinks game designers should never buckle entirely to its communities because in some cases the communities isn’t always right (not saying it’s entirely accurate with this one for instance but just going with in the players must know everything is dangerous and probably more damaging)

Yes, it's terrible idea to let community dictate your game. Just as bad idea to let only devs dictate it, especially when it comes to job design - game only has 4 job designers for 19 jobs, and it unfortunately shows. Yoshi even said that whole 6.1 SAM fiasco was decided by single dev and Yoshi itself. Yoshi doesn't main SAM, and chance that the other dev mains it is low too (practically zero, no chance SAM main would want these changes). Devs thinking they know better than players is a tale as old as live service games itself. I ain't no veteran, but from what I've heard, devs stopped to listen to players at the start of ShB, which is also supposedly when job design started to nosedive.

Once again, it's SE failing to find a balance, and going with the extremes instead.

Square seems to respond rather quickly to issues when it garners media attention.

They care about their pride and reputation more than they care about your player experience. You want change, get someone to stir up media attention involving the issues and they will fix it in a week LOL

If that is what it takes to be honest, haven't we all been slapped in the face long enough? Hell we all been giving the benefit of the doubt for years, but that kind of respect wears out eventually.

But to speak of the other post, I don't truly want the community to dictate what goes on the game, but some things certainly need to be acknowledged that the majority are getting tired of.


Effing Hell I'll go as far as to say its time for us all to speak Japanese and actually speak our mind, and abandon the English Forums, the abuse needs to stop.

I'm sure we got people here that can speak both Japanese and English if they want to be our mouth of Sauron (little joke there).

So basically

We need a Japanese/English Rep or Reps of our own if some people here are willing to step up to the plate for us.

Honestly We really should not have to put in this kind of effort, but I don't see any other way now.

Materia needs help, I know know how much longer the data centre can hold on for, it’s already almost entirely done through PF and it’s inflow isn’t great when it comes to the server growing

Maybe we can do Current Patch (or past patch) roundups of problems considered to be a problem by the majority and things we feel the Developers did right and should continue with it, and write-up a English to Japanese Post.

Basically one here for English Forums and another for Japanese General Discussion.

This kind of thing might take some time to formulate what is considered to be a problem, so possibly very long topics until we get this right.


If this does not work then we know they're purposely ignoring us, and continue on with their hubris.

They're already purposely ignoring people. Why do you think they listened to a 1-like post about trypophobia and make it a lodestone announcement? People say "only posts with high amount of likes get seen". That's just wrong, they listen to inane feedback like the SGE icon.

Then there's the developer interview questions. They ignore the hard-hitting, most liked post, that is quite literally often the FIRST reply all the time and jump to the "uwu what's Alisaie's favorite teacup" kind of question.

The evidence is already there you don't have to huff the copium.

I'm reminded of when GNB came out and a handful of people complained about how it sounded on the JP forum so they changed it two weeks after ShB's launch. Everyone complained about the new sound effects because it was a shit change, even got our question about changing it back into the live letter and Yoshi P was just like "Oh please take some time to see if you like the change!" even though it had been months at that point. Then they promptly ignored any further feedback regarding GNB's sound effects. I never have any hopes anything NA does gets any attention.
