A bit Of Advise for An easy Dps Class

So I'm gonna be playing with two friends one loves being a tank the other healer... That leaves me dps which is likely good...

I'm not the best at video games.. I have slow reaction timings... and fine motor movement issues. I do my best but am looking for what DPS Class would be best to play and would love input.

Something the easiest and forgiving Rotations are gonna be hard to do perfectly and very fast all the time.. and the less things to keep track of the better.

This is kind of a bad game for that in general as the further you go in it, the more combat becomes focused on seeing attack tells and moving into safe spots, plus your attacks are usually casting one ability and then quickly selecting additional abilities to use while the first one is cooling down... but I understand that we don't always get to pick our social games.

I would suggest starting out with Arcanist and upgrading it to Summoner at level 30. It's a base game job so, unlike expansion jobs, you can play it from level 1. Its attack rotation is very forgiving and it gets versions of most of its core skills early, making it easy to practice and build muscle memory without having to fight against it later when you get a new skill, and it doesn't have a lot of skills to manage overall. It's a caster, so you will be able to stand at mid-range and cast without worrying about moving to the boss's flank or rear every other combo to do full damage, as melees must. And it has a little utility insofar as you can resurrect dead party members if your healer friend gets in trouble and eventually cast a damage buff for the party.

    Probably Summoner.

Start as Arcanist (Limsa Lominsa is where the guild for it is) and then upgrade to Summoner. The rotation is pretty straightforward and PROBABLY the easiest in the game to execute well. It also just makes sense (the tooltips can be a little weird, but it's really not hard). A good starter guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDm0...mIovFT&index=4, Wesk Alber does good guides on Youtube for the Jobs.

SMN has a lot of instant cast spells, so movement isn't hard at all, but it still uses the 2.5 sec GCD, so it has a low APM (actions per minute). You don't need to do lots of crazy finger dexterity weaving of buttons and oGCDs (off-Global CoolDown) buttons, so the pace is very easy and forgiving. The rotation is super simple, and builds up from the beginning very intuitively so that it makes sense as you get new abilities. Even at level cap, you don't need to do any "double-weaving" since it has so few oGCDs.

But, it does decent damage (not highest like Melee or BLM, but not low like Ranged Physical, Tanks, or Healers), and also has some nice utility for the party with a little healing (not Physic, that scales poorly as you get past level 50 or so; but the Phoenix heals are pretty good and happen naturally with your rotation) and a combat Raise, which can be useful for helping if you're running 4 mans with your friends and your Healer friend goes down, you can Raise them back up to keep going strong.

I'd say watch the video above and see if it sounds good to you, go unlock Arcanist and try it out some, see if it clicks. Personally I love it. Bonus points is it is the only class in the game that has two Jobs branch from it (Summoner and Scholar), so you get SCH "for free" if you level SMN, in case you ever need a Healer at higher levels. SCH is a bit more complex, but not terrible, and if you're not playing at a super high level, it's both fun and pretty easy. It's just nice to have options.

And it's kinda fun having your little pet (Carby for SMN and Eos for SCH) following you around and doing stuff with ya.

    .

But yeah, SMN is probably the easiest and most forgiving rotation in the game, and it doesn't have any super fast stuff since you don't need to weave tons of oGCDs and stuff, you can use your Primal Summons in any order you want, and there's pretty much nothing to have to keep track of other than every Bahamut you want to use the party damage buff when you get it (but it's just a button to press when you do Bahamut, so super easy to remember), and that's pretty much it. No self-upkeep buffs like NIN or WAR, no DoTs to upkeep like the Healers, just roll through your summons one after another, use their abilities, then move onto the next one.

Again, I like it, and pretty much everyone agrees it's pretty easy to pick up and play well. I'd say give it a try.

    Good luck, friend! o/

Do not wait till your global cool down timer is ready / has resetted to presx your next ability / skill
=> always press (more like spam / button smash) your next ability skill, when the cool down is like 3/4 almost ready, ..so you press in "advance" (in reality, your skill are ready earlier than they are shown, due to sever lags)
    ...
and "off"global cool down skills, try to use / weave those in between, but early (not late) into thr global cool down of other skillss (and do not try to weave more than 2 during a global cool down)

imo go Summoner (=Arcanist), its boring till.lv 90 (untill harder end raid content), but its easy, does ok damage + can help revive too..
    ...
Dancer is a good choice too, easy but can't unlock asap (might need to play Bard / Archer 1st, get their gear, untill you canplay Dancer).., Bards can play real music in game, incase you have a flair for music playing

As people said, SMN will be the easiest job to play optimally for a beginner, Dancer is also a good choice.
Though, you don't need to perfectly play any job, you could open yourself to other jobs.

I would advice to avoid MCH and NIN as they are fast paced job.

    SMN is the easiest!!!!
    - Few abilites
    - No RNG
    - Simple rotation - that pretty much stays the same from start to end.

Depends on what you like to play, everyone is suggesting Arcanist which turns into Summoner which I agree with but if you want to play Melee then Lancer into Dragoon is very easy at the early levels since you unlock your skills super slowly. Dragoon ramps up by the end but its slow enough that most people can get down with it. Archer into Bard is your only physical ranged option as a new character but I wouldn't recommend that one as much since you do have to manage dots (damage over time). Avoid Monk like the plague if you dont think you'll be good since that job scares even me despite my hundreds of hours in Savage and Ultimate raids. Look into Reaper (Another Melee) when you get to a level that can unlock it, that job is super easy and very flashy. Good luck and be sure to have fun! The game gets a lot of warranted criticism and complaints but at the end of the day it is a great game and I hope you enjoy it.

TLDR: Summoner at the start, look at Reaper if you want

SMN and RPR both have very straight forward rotations and are extremely lenient on mistakes.

For context, I'm a level 90 player with arthritis, and I play using a PS5 controller.

While I can't speak as well to how the class plays at lower levels (because major changes were made to the class since I leveled it), but at level 90 I think Summoner is hands-down the easiest DPS class to play. I don't even think there's another DPS class that comes close to how simple and straightforward Summoner is. So I would recommend starting as Arcanist, which is the class that can gets a quest to become a Summoner at level 30.

One other thing that I'll suggest is that FF14 has a great many ways to customize your UI and controls, so with your issues these are probably worth looking into! One of my favorite tools the game provides is the ability to use in-game macros, which allow you to do things like map multiple abilities to the same button; this can help reduce the amount of buttons you need to move your fingers to! And with Summoner, I've been able to map almost my entire set of moves to only 8 buttons because the class works great with the macro system.

Best of luck, and I hope you have fun with your friends!
