Question about glamour plate

My Blu mage has the augmented i70 (level 400) Scaeven & I want to place the i86 (LEVEL 539) Griffin gear to it. I made the Glamour plate with the i86 gear but for some strange reason, it will not allow me to apply it to the Scaeven gear. Am I doing something wrong?

Portraits can be very fiddly. Did you make sure that you saved your gear loadout before you tried to make a portrait that used it? That's the most common gotcha I've encountered.

What does that have to do with them wanting to glamour higher level gear onto lower level gear?

@ OP glamours dont work that way. You can glamour the Scaeven gear on to the lvl 86 gear but NOT vice versa.

Griffin gear is higher level than Scaeven, that's why you can't use it for this set.

The glamour gear can’t be a higher level than the gear you’re wearing. If it’s the set I’m thinking of, however, a lower level version of that same set can be purchased for Wolf Marks if you do pvp. The dye pattern might be slightly different though.

This was my mistake, my eyes read Glamour Plate and my brain heard Adventurer Plate.

You're confusing the terminology there. They're not official conventions, just what the fans tend to use and you have to pick it up, but you've got them backwards.

Scaevan gear is level 70 and i400; the Griffin gear you're talking about is level 86 and i539. Level is the primary level you can equip the item, and the number that the glamour system works on. The iXXX (or IL XXX) is the item level, which compares the actual power of gear even at the same equippable level.

Aside of all this, even though you cannot equip or glamour the level 86 gear, there IS a version that you can use! It comes from PVP and is level 60. Go to the Wolves' Den and you can get it from the Wolf Mark Exchange shop – the overall series is labelled Beastlord gear.

It's only an inconvenience until you level up, though – and BLU is the only job that can't level high enough to equip everything that would otherwise be available to them.

Getting to equip new outfits is one of the best things about levelling up, and my main reason for levelling additional jobs on alt characters.

I think it's fine to lock a glamor behind a level...if you have never been that level. If I unlocked a caster set for RDM at max level...I should use the same caster glamor on a brand spanking new baby Arcanist.

I've already mastered a caster class...I didn't forget how to wear a clothes just cause I'm holding a different rock.
