I felt this way in the past - both for XIV and pretty much every MMO I've played long enough that I started to lose interest in. Seems like it's time for a break if you feel unmotivated to play.

Nothing wrong with your gut telling you that you aren't having fun.

Since you know there is nothing new to do until 6.5 that you don't have access to today, you can check in again later and decide if it's worth your time.

To be fair, even when I do this, it's usually because I'm chatting with a friend who intends to log in, but usually ends up not wanting to (or technical troubles arise), so I log out and we do something else (usually explore in Genshin Impact).
But I imagine a lot of people use their estates to just... do that, these days, yeah. I know I have friends who only log in to keep their houses, but even that's starting to lose it's hold on them.

If you feel like there's nothing to do, that's your body telling you that you don't want to play this game. Listen to it and go do something else. To stay is to try to squeeze milk from a stone, which is to say it's a fruitless waste of your time and energy.

Meanwhile, I don't feel like you. I'm enjoying the time I spend in the game. When I don't feel like playing FF14, I too go play something else, as there are plenty of other games. But I regularly do feel like playing FF14.

If I were to guess, I would guess that when you login to FF14 you do it not because there's something you want to do in FF14, but rather because it's a long-time habit you've grown into. It's something I've seen happen with a lot of people in a lot of different games. The solution is always to shake off that habit, to get away from that game and build new habits where you actively choose how to spend your time based on what you want to do rather than what you usually do.

I hope any of this helps, because I want you to be happy! Don't waste your precious time and energy on a game you're not enjoying!

I've been working on eureka and zodiac relics, my splendorous tools, leveling my retainers, making money, decorating my house, attending FC events, working on my island, etc.

I can't personally relate. I was looking forward to most of the things in this particular patch. I'll be working on my brilliant tools for some time and it will take me some time to collect all the relics. And I'll poke my head into Variant and maybe see if any of my static wants to tackle Criterion. And my friends and I will be working on BLU once we finish getting mounts from Emerald Weapon.

But it's perfectly valid if this patch isn't someone's particular cup of tea. If it's not jiving with you, then there's nothing wrong with taking a break until the next major patch.

I was actually unsubbed long enough this time, that I let my small go. I didn't want to be chained to a resub just to keep my small, especially considering I am on Marilith. For that matter, my small plot was still open, and also my neighbors plot was open, and also some other smalls were open, so if I ever did want it back. I could literally get my old plot back, and if I can't, just a different small plot. It really doesn't matter. It does suck that you lose out on a whole aspect of the game though.

I don't know about that, unfortunately. I think the ship has pretty much sailed with that game. I mean, I have seen news of some of the emergency streams, but it's probably a case of too little too late. Unless you are already at endgame or a whale. The new player experience is just garbage, and good luck to any new player actually collecting any of the cards, gems, and everything else that will actually allow them to not be gatekept from a party. Not to mention roster level.

Maybe pick up a new game, 16 was just released.
You can take breaks, but you still have to pay your sub if you have a house.

As for that new FF, at least for me, I don't have a PS5. Do not plan on buying a PS5, and certainly wouldn't buy one for 16. Nor would I probably buy 16 if I did have a PS5!

Same. Lately, it is less burn out with ffxiv, and more of just having nothing I want to do in it, or anything I feel is rewarding enough to actually bother grinding out.

Choosing not to do the content available is not the same thing as there being no content. You're basically whining that the game isn't designed specifically for you.
I don't consider achievement hunting "content".

Burn out is natural. Don't force yourself if you're not having fun anymore. 14 doesn't want you to be around all the time. They said so themselves.
What nonsense. He says this but puts in systems that encourage you to stay subbed, like weekly lockouts and housing demo timers (alongside a perpetual housing crisis)

I agree. Remember folks: Yoshi P is a gamer AND a business man. You can see him like a partner in a hobby but never as your dad. If you don't play or watch how this game changes as the time goes on, you will lose a lot. It's part of a MMO nature and it's exactly what makes it fun.
Almost 4 years later after beating Heavensward i discovered a sub quest where you unlock a special emote. Great quest, amazing writing and dialogues, and i didn't noticed because it was a yellow quest and i could not wait to try Samurai.

Why they don't make such content more clear or obvious? Because they want you to look for it.

We have in-game clock with time gate to spawn nodes, weather forecast that can influence sightseeing log, grand company, hunts with weird rules, tribes and now Island. When you stop and try to synchronize all these contents, you will literaly live in Eorzea for a day and still have stuff to do

I hate to be the one to interrupt your narrative, but weekly lockouts are more or less an MMO staple across multiple games. Lets not let facts get in the way here, shall we? Weekly lockouts have existed for decades, so no, he didnt "put anything in".

Maybe you should have read the rest of it to find a better suited example, the house demo timer was most definitely implemented to shackle players into staying subbed. SE has had no interest to fix the housing situation so you can consider it intended on their part.
