It never ceases to amaze me how people that insist they hate the game continue paying for it, continue posting on the forums about it, and continue saying how bad it is and making threads to stir discontent in others/try to get other people as upset as they are/try to get validation for their discontent.

You aren't posting constructive criticism and you're insisting 7.0 won't change anything, so you clearly aren't in that camp of "We love the game and just think we can change it", since for that to be true you'd have to think 7.0 IS going to change (or at least CAN be by criticism). But you aren't even offering criticism. You're talking up other games and insisting people need to leave this one because it WON'T change in 7.0 and there is no hope for it to.

I quit a Free to Play Game I'd played for 11 years prior to moving to FFXIV.

I still log into that game on very rare occasions as I have a Lifetime Subscription to it, receive a monthly Stipend, and like to occasionally check how much I've amassed and say hi to a few friends who don't communicate by any other means.

But so far as the game itself goes - the greedy, lootbox obsessed, business model - which became worse and worse over time, to the point where I'd say the business model is more 'smartphone game' than MMO - put me off and I stopped playing the game in any serious way late 2021. And pretty much drew a line under posting on it's forum. I saw no point in doing so since I would have nothing to say that wouldn't clash with both the White Knights on that forum and the very easily offended CM and moderators.

Although I will confess I did post there a few weeks ago - following a friend mentioning the fact that the CM of said game had been promoted despite having a six-year history of consistently producing sloppy, badly written, mistake-riddled blogs I posted on the forum of that game expressing amusement at said CM having 'failed upward' despite a demonstrable inability to use spell checking software or even proof-read his product. I was subsequently perma-banned from their forum, as the CM and moderators there are THAT adverse to negativity and criticism.

Because I still like it? However if what some forum members have shown me is that they get so ungodly frustrated with this game but they still stick around with no ryhme or reason.

sadly 7.0 will still do well, exodus is going to come in 8.0 and 9.0 just like in wow. we're literally just following wow's exact trajectory lmao

There are reasons.

Sunk cost fallacy.

Emotional baggage that they like to carry around on display for whatever reason.

The belief that they are so important to the game's success that it will change as they want just for their sake.

Feeling like they're part of a community here where elsewhere they feel alone and like an outsider.

Actually enjoying the game but wanting to job red hot pokers at the game and/or other players because they enjoy that even more.

They're just not particularly good reasons.

Why? Why someone has to hate the game if they have a bad opinion about it.

I don’t hate the game and I’m playin it since 5.2 so not so much as many others.
I log in bc my houses. I put efforts in those and I don’t want them being wiped out bc SE needs my money.

I’m tired of doing the same contents.
I’m tired of seeing the game dumbed down.
I’m tired of having new contents not worth to play more than once with barely a gameplay into it and rewards.

I think we CAN change the game.
We tried, with so many threads like this one where ppl call “bait” and the baited express how they feel.
One post after another they build up together.

Finally, most people are tired as I am or more than what I am.
We need. these “bait-posts” so when you log and hit the “Today’s Threads” button and see all negative posts even a dumb donki can understand there is a problem.
And besides everything that we can say about lazy GM I hope the community team realises there is a problem and instead doing their stupid streaming once per month they start working ALONG the community because the game is made for us.

But yeah, this is copium.
The game will never change for the better.
SE is loosing buyers all over their games, I wonder why (ironic)

Also there is a clear difference between somebody enjoying the game but still heavily criticize it and negative andies who express their distaste over the game and do nothing but doomsaying and finding an ultimatum but never following through it.

I still think there's more positive that negative with this game. If what I've seen from other MMOs currently with better retention content is that what people ask for is not the solution. Heck we already have an example with the new Deep Dungeon. A piece of content people have been asking for since its absence in Shb and they made a new one and it's already dead.

I bet the exploratory zone andies the same thing will happen when they do a new exploratory zone in 7.0 and people fall off from it within a few weeks or so. Can't also ignore how commonly the content was criticized and the reception to it was unfavorable during Sb and Shb but now thY we don't have it, all of a sudden people are clamoring for its return? Get real.

But yes the rewards for criterion and savage are just a huge mess of why's and the relic step being the same exact thing is just ugh.

At least Blue Mage is still good. I'm happy they still kept with its job questline btw.

It's almost like, people can like some things in the game, and dislike others, I know, that's crazy guys, hopefully one day it gets through some of your thick skulls so you can stop with that absolutely ridiculous comeback to tell people to quit every time they complain about specific parts of the game

I like housing, hanging out with my friends, venues, gposing and glamming amongst a few other things, but according to some of the responses in this thread, I should just quit because I dont like criterion dungeons and variant dungeons, I should just pay with my wallet and quit because... I dont like criterion and variants ? But what about the parts I like, cant I have those ?

You already said multiple times you only care about the housing and that's fine.
