I like the Relic Grind so no disappointment. Can continue to casual my way to gear upgrades without being bored by repetitive fates. Hildebrand is enough of a chore I had to do from scratch....
I don't bother with the criterion dungeons. If I don't want the rewards or to spend time on things they release, I just don't do them.
Right now I can get maybe an hour of FFXIV a day on various roulettes I do feel like doing, sometimes more, sometimes less, and I'm fine with that.
7.0 has been my "decide to go on" mark since 6.0.
Given the design choices during EW, I see the writing on the wall and will prolly bounce out after 7.1 or so.
We shall see. I want to continue honestly but... yeah, theres comes a point you can no longer support a company that's clearly not putting their best effort into the product they are selling you.

Yeah, I'm not gonna quit the game because of a lack of rewards, generally. It'll be because of a lack of fun doing the things I enjoy, which in my case is playing different feeling jobs and roles, imaginative/varied encounters, and PvP.
Haven't been into the new Criterion yet (it's friggin only Wednesday), but I'm really excited to try it after how much fun I had with ASS.
I'm so excited to do e4s as BLU that I'll probably put it off until after 8 n 12 just because I love that fight so dang much!
I wish I would feel as excited about the new 24 mans, dungeons, extremes and even savages when they're added nowadays, but they seem so careful to make them as 'wrinkle-free' as possible lately that I often just don't end up feeling engaged the same, which is a shame because they still amount to a huge part of the battle content, and worse than that, the jobs don't feel as varied to play anymore. That affects ALL content, even goofing off around town in many cases.
Pvp doesn't have me excited with anticipation the same way but it's been consistent joy (and frustration!) for me since CC's introduction. New maps and jobs will always be exciting, even if rank seasons and rewards aren't!

I'm mostly staying for my FC. We are a relatively small one, everyone knows everyone else, many of us are friends. We tend to have multiple FC events per week, which is the only thing I'm still interested in doing in this game right now. Endwalker has been a huge letdown for me in every way. The MSQ was lackluster with tons of filler and pacing issues, job design rubs me the wrong way, I'm not interested in literally any of the side content except for raids. I haven't even played the latest bit of MSQ because I'm tired of them rehashing stories from older FF games and Yoshi-P's Deviantart OC.

Looking back, the game kinda ended for me at the end of the 6.0 MSQ. At the time, I didn’t want to believe it but every subsequent patch since then is making it more and more apparent to me. I kept going on, hoping things would get better but they have not and most of my friends no longer login.
This is the first patch in 10 years that I have not bothered to login for patch day to play. I haven’t really played for weeks now. I am holding out hope that 7.0 will be worth the wait but we essentially have no content until May 2024. I’m not considering these 6.x patches significant content as I can finish them in a few hours and then go back to hibernating.
I was hoping the relic would give me some fun but I literally gasped when it was just tomes… I want to play but I can’t hit the login button… I miss my friends but there gone… I really don’t have much reason to play anymore as the current story and experience is no longer a happy and fun escape for me.
For me, it was a bad idea to center an expansion and subsequent patches around endings, depression and darkness. Not exactly the gameplay I want to experience.
Am I quitting? I don’t think so… yet… it’s just, I don’t have a reason to login.

Don't think about it and don't care. The Quicksand is still boppin' and it's getting easier than ever to use [redacted]. I tried Second Life, and while I could make a hot toon with a voluptuous bosom, it was a pain in the ass compared to FFXIV. FFXIV makes it effortless to [redacted] and [redacted] with your [redacted]. $13 a month is well-spent. The only thing I'm looking for in 7.0 is a new AFK spot. Don't even need femhroth when we already have [redacted].
Oh, but I don't actually play the game, I have World of Warcraft for that.

Your signature makes it clear, but considering that mod archives have an astonishing 49k+ mods, making this 3rd most modded game in history, with Mare having supposedly 20K online users at any given time, it's safe to say that significant amount of players could say what you did with a straight face.

I feel it is safe to say 7.0 will be the final nail in the coffin for old players, and will determine if FFXIV can last in the future with a newer player base.
Tbh I do not think so their content and gameplay feel extremely dated and not sure updated visuals will be enough.
