Weird… I was assuming it would be the dog in the outfit shown in the patch notes! So where does that one come from?PSA, the minion is just black hayate with a bigger scarf. My poor friend got it and used it and we compared the two, thinking surely it was just a similar thumbnail, but nah. Same model and everything. So if you've obtained it and you're debating keeping or selling, you probably already own it and don't even know. Pic below is the new minion (right) and the old black hayate that's been in the game since shadowbringers (left).
Never said it was a good thing, just that it's pretty much expected by now. Short of either clothes or tails (or both) getting actual physics, it's gonna keep happening.
Maybe there's a second one. After getting it from a variant chest, he opened it thinking it'd be the one in the patchnotes pic, but it was just the hayate clone.
edit: Yeah that's the case actually. There are two. One is Shiromaru and one is Kuromaru. Kuro is a clone. Shiro's a dog with an outfit. I'll edit my original post to reflect the distinction.
Solid design - It's just a shame they don't expand on the Variant actions to include more and allow a greater deal of flexibility.
Would be nice if there were additional items from it like gear and such also. But again, otherwise pretty solid.
You need incentive to have fun?Prediction: No more variant/criterion dungeons will come in 7.0 and after because of the low content engagement, and the designers at SE will think it's because of the content itself rather than their horrid incentive system, and instead of fixing the issues, will just scrap the concept altogether.
I'm probably considered a white knight for SE by most people. But even I'm disappointed with the content and rewards. The game is really boring and there is no incentive to do anything. They didn't learn with this dungeon the mistakes of the last.
Perhaps because you're assuming there were "mistakes" worth doing any kind of significant overhaul. Their engagement metrics probably say otherwise. Personally? I'm having a ton of fun with the game as I have been for a few years now, and I'm looking forward to trying out the new Variant.
Designers - create quests, combat, and gameplay
Artists- create the environments and the pretty visuals.
Producers - coordinate all the tens and keep everyone on schedule and budget.
