Manderville Relic Criticism

The past few expansions, we’ve had quests and lengthy areas to play in to obtain relics - whether it be ARR/HW Crafting, SB Eureka, ShB Bozja, or any of the steps that involve replaying old content - it’s nowhere to be found with this relic. All it is is a glorified Tomestone grind. 4500 Tomestone and you have your relic for the expansion.

At the very least, I expected SOME modicum of effort to be put into this final step, but woe is the man who expects anything from the past two HILDIBRAND patches. Yes, they can be funny and you have to go through a lot of old stuff - but it isn’t that long in comparison to other relics.

For 7.0 relic, they need to bring back the grind.

I feel the reason they're doing it this way is because a lot of people jump around to many different classes, so they decided to make it easier to grind for all of them rather than just one.

I'm not the biggest fan of it either though. But I get it.

Counterpoint, I love that I can choose to grind tomes in whatever I want instead of their narrow prescribed list of new thing I may hate or specific old content.

Especially in a game of now 19 jobs. Relics can much more easily be accessed for players interested in gearing alternate jobs for current content.

i think the stones are great.
its nice to get while doing other content. my problem is more.... what other content? roulette stops being fun when you realize its more often than not the same few instances

If you want to farm something by doing essentially any roulette/duty/hunt, then you don't want to farm the relic. You merely want a bonus in form of relic for doing something you would do anyway. Relics became a mere by-product, not a goal.

In lieu of not getting Instanced Zones this works just fine for me. I don't want some rng drop having to run this dungeon or run these fates ad nauseum to get what we need. People bitched about the zones and they were awesome hopefully we'll get them back in 7.0.
