Doing everything in the patch in one day and having nothing else to do until 6.5, probably.

I would not blame the entirety of Square Enix or CBU3. At this point, it's quite clear that the management is to blame. I'm sure many of their developers understand the dire straits this game is in and management choose to ignore and arrogantly chase their own "vision".I would really love to know what was their plan with V&C. Common complaints are that game is unrewarding, insane gap between easy and hard content without any middle ground, and that content is one and done.
So they made variant, which is even easier than regular dungeons, is one and done after you do all paths, and then they made "normal" criterion which is on savage level, requires savage gear (or at least community was supposedly gatekeeping it that way), and then they make yet another more savage difficulty for a good measure. And of course, neither of criterions gives you anything meaningful. I really hope they'll tell us on one of the fanfest what were their intentions. They probably allocated all of their writers to come up with something believable, that would explain that mediocre 6.X story.
Sounds suspiciously familiar to another MMO on the market who went through a massive crisis in recent years...
I definitely don't blame whole CBU3, after all, it's clear that EW suffers mostly from design point, management, and cheapening out on stuff. We have no trial storyline, no relic storyline (Hildibrand is just zip tied to it), copy paste DD, unusually bad QA, one and done content, and questionable job adjustments, both design-wise and balance-wise. 6.X MSQ is something that I would see in other MMORPGs, and go "ok". But this game is supposed to be story focused, as many people already told me, so it would be nice if story was at least marginally above average.I would not blame the entirety of Square Enix or CBU3. I understand that they do graphical update in the background, but problem is that they're also simultaneously working on trust support for old stuff, and on top of that, on whole another game. As a result, they're clearly struggling to keep their standards. People say that devs were not moved to FF16, but honestly I do hope that was the case, because that would mean we will hopefully see upsurge in quality once (if) they come back to FFXIV.
