Desynthesis - looking for current guide / numbers

    Hey all

Looking for desynthesis guides i can't find one that is newer than ShB. What i look for is the ranges or a formula how much skill+ i will get (with food and potion buff) from what iLevel / Fish in which range.

Is there something like that out there? Or is the formula known?

Will put you on ignore if you can't form a logical argument but argue nonetheless

I don't think anyone has tried to dig deep into the formula since the changes were made to Desynthesis in Shadowbringers. Or if they did, they decided it was too much effort to complete and share the results. Trying to create a guide has a lot less value now that success is guaranteed regardless of desynthesis skill versus recommended skill level.

The amount of skill increase you'll receive does have a heavy RNG element to it, which makes trying to create such a guide even more of a problem.

I haven't kept records but here's a summary of what I recall from my own experience. I've seen skill gain almost double (or get halved) from one desynthesis to the next on the same type of item. I think the largest skill increase I've seen is 2.5 (which isn't to say higher isn't possible) and seems to be more likely to happen when you're slightly below the recommended level instead of being a large amount below it. That means it can help to stick to items closer to your skill level than far above it. Watch for when you start seeing a consistent drop in skill gained then switch to somewhat higher level items to continue.

Once you're into the higher item levels from Shadowbringers, the cap on the amount of skill you can get appears to be lowered (similar to how the job armory bonus decreases from 100% to 50% once a job reach level 80). The last 20 levels before whatever the current cap is will have very low increases to skill.

What's best to use can vary depending on your local market conditions. Housing items coming out of quick ventures can be very cheap on the MB (cheaper than the cost of materials needed to craft them in many cases) so they're a good place to start. If you do hunts on a regular basis, buying gear with hunt currency is also cost efficient (though reselling the materials may not be as profitable). Otherwise it's probably best to stick with whatever is cheapest to craft (don't forget to include the cost of shards/crystals when figuring that out).
