    Future Spells/Skills You Want to See!

    Let me begin by saying I am not too familiar with abilities/spells present in other FF titles. That said, there are some abilities I'd love to see get upgraded come 7.0. This is primarily a visual upgrades thread (higher potency with a new animation), but if you have ideas for how a skill can be otherwise upgraded, more power to you!

    Black Mage
    I think it's time Black Mage gets an upgrade to Flare. We've had it since level 50 and honestly I'm not crazy about the animation anyway. Just a potency boost and new animation. Or just an animation upgrade, that's fine by me.

    Red Mage
    While the balancing between black and white mana is fun, I think Fleche and Contre Sixte add some nice spellblade-vibes to the job. It'd be cool if these were upgraded to be flashier or expanded on to even include their own combos.

    Bard
    Really what I want from Bard is a further push into music/notes as it's design. The DoTs don't mean as much for them anyway anymore and people have been asking for a proper Ranger job. Personally I'd like Bard to just fully embrace music-themed attacks outside of their songs. Oh and for the love of god change Rain of Death. It's so ugly.

    I've had a very neat idea about very cool SAM skill. You know how entire class fantasy is based on big, heavy hitting attacks, right? Obviously, if you want to amplify it, you can simply add more heavy hitting attacks - but they've already done that in both ShB and EW, Ogi and Tsubame is exactly it, and if you keep adding more heavy hitting attacks, then they start to lose meaning.

    So hear me out, how about we add some sort of skill that you use before big attack, so it becomes even bigger one? You know how Kenki is just sitting there, only being used for Shinten? How about we make this new skill cost Kenki - this way Kenki management won't be only about overcapping, but also about undercapping, it would be this fun balancing minigame. That would make job more involved, which is exactly what current iteration of brain dead SAM really needs. It really wouldn't be hard to execute either, any average player will not struggle with this, only bad players will be affected by it, which is 100% fair, skill expression should not be only for top 10%. It will make skill curve much more gradual, because most of SAM's optimizations are imo just too high level for average player, things like fillers to properly realign, with different filler depending if you lost uptime or not. Things like calculating whether it's worth more to try to make last Midare before boss dies, or use Hagakure to dish out most damage before it. Things like that go right over average player's head, but this simple skill is straightforward. Which is why I think this would be amazing for SAM, not only for the flavour (there's insane potential to make this animation really satisfying, because Iaijutsu is real technique, widely popularized in videogames because of how satisfying it is), but to make SAM's gameplay more involved and less bland.

    Blue mage:
    quintuplecast - next spell is repeated 4 further times.
    Spell in waiting - cast a spell now to go off later - might be interesting if it was settable under waning
    Astral flow - all players and enemies rotate 90 degrees relative to the caster
    Barbariccia transform thing - basically something that could swap magic and physical damage over for a duration.
    Orogenesis - spawn a small/giant version of yourself with an independent hp bar and replays your actions from the start of the fight or does the more boring ninja clone copycat thing
    Aetherial tear - extend all durations on all timers. Instance timer included
    That kirby thing the clionid larvae do to spawn the s rank
    True bad breath or something from that cassie-type morbol in anamnesis akadaemia

    Summoner:
    Wouldn’t it be neat if instead of spamming glowing buttons there was some kind of coherent rotation and identity - perhaps use the pet system to give each of the primal a niche - single target, double target + personal survival, and aoe for example - and really allow the player to feel like they’re commanding a force of nature rather than standing around blinding everyone. Of course this alone wouldn’t fill out a job, so further things are needed, perhaps sustained damage in the form of dots and some trances/flashy summons? Phoenix and Bahamut would work well for the latter, differentiated of course in playstyle, bahamut being more aggressive and having a duration window where as many attacks need fit in as possible, and phoenix perhaps having a nice short 1212 loop to help separate them. Naturally as a caster this busy window is going to be tricky to fit things in, so if the trances perhaps removed 2.5s from casts to aid ogcd output - could even go as far as including some kind of gameplay flexible reward for using the pet attacks with an instant filler accessed from an otherwise dead button perhaps? Naturally this could also function as a movement tool. Further to this, as the dot upkeep is a key part of the job design and damage output a way to quickly apply and spread them for aoe situations could be in order, as well as something to scale off how many currently afflict the target.

    I've wanted this from day one! Bard was the first job I played, and always thought it would have been better as two jobs.

    Ranger could be the bow side of it, with quick attacks that charge up to spike damage.

    Bard could be the music side of it. Buffing party members, and using songs on enemies for dps. In the same vein as Dancer, but not entirely like Dancer.

    I'm also tired of seeing the bowharp!

    Some kind of lower level healing spell for GLA/PLD which Clemency would replace (due to low level GLA/PLD originally designed with the expectation that Cure would be cross-classed, something long removed).
    GLA/PLD's old Red Lotus sword weaponskill from 1.0
    Stoneskin for CNJ/WHM return (I mean, Venat casts it in Ktsis Hyperboriea!)

    I mean if we're talking about level 100 I want to see some OP goat skills like Ultima for BLMs, Arise for WHMs, Graviton for ASTs, Zantetsuken for SAMs, Lionheart for GNBs, Black Sky for DRK, Hallowed Bolt for PLDs, Alexander/Odin for SMN and bard gets hide (jk)

    What I'm saying is unique non-carbon copy signature spells for each job is what I'd love to see the most

    - Their 30% mit should have an extra effect like Vengeance
    - Sentinel should get a regen
    - Shadow Wall should get a shield or Mp regen
    - Nebula should 50% of damage back as Hp (like a mini HOC)

    Paladin:
    - I hope Goring Blade changes, but if it doesn’t it should upgrade to Bitter End
    - Passage of Arms should get an update
    - A spell to combo off of Holy Spirit
    - Cut, merge or rework Shield Bash and Cover

    Dragoon(rework hopium):
    - GCD jumps
    - Big Jumps
    - More Dragon themed spells

    Bard:
    - cut or rework the DOTs
    - a weaponskill tied to Army’s paeon and Mages ballad(like pitch perfect for wanderers)
    - a pitch perfect upgrade

    Samurai:
    - Kaiten, for all the SAM homies

    Black Mage:
    - Ultima
    - another stack for leylines

    Red Mage:
    - Verultima
    - another Ice sword skill, like Flèche
    - Verflare and Verholy upgrade
