Following people in game is against the ToS? Seems like a stretch to me.
Why am I not remotely surprised to see people on this board defending this lmao. The guy basically admits to stalking OP with the "your character is pretty and I want to watch". The fact that he literally followed OP everywhere further incriminates him. But honestly after the other thread where a couple people were defending pedophilia, I shouldn't be surprised at all...
we just think its not a big deal. i cant understand why someone would do something like that, but thats no reason to put him into prison
I was thinking the same thing bro. Trying to educate them on social norms doesn't seem like a thing that'll happen. They are probably going to be stuck being weirdos forever. Why am I not remotely surprised to see people on this board defending this lmao. When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
It sounded like nothing was said from either just the constant following around which is fine up until the point OP pointed out they return to the home DC and got the tell later on. Thats nothing to defend the other person about.Part of me wants to say that some people should get out and learn how to actually socialize and part me of me wants to say that these same people should simply not socialize with anyone at all.
I had a bit of an encounter while working on some ARR relics.
I ran into this person while farming a fate for one of my books. Didn't talk to them, or say anything. Noticed they didn't have a relic but whatever. They can do whatever they want it's not really any of my business. I run around killing the enemies I need for my book and they don't catch up with me until I'm looking for the stuff in the U'Ghamaro Mines because of course they do. They mostly just sit there, doing nothing and following me around. I eventually move to a different world because I'm using discord to track the fates I need. They show up as I'm finishing up. Whenever I'd go into my dungeons, they'd be right there when I left the instance.
And it's like this for a good hour. I don't say anything because I really don't see that accomplishing anything.
I eventually DC travel home because I left my inks and alexandrites with one of my retainers. It's a good while before finally I get this in my tells:
I didn't say anything back but... really? Bruh I never accused you of stalking and you're defending yourself. Pretty sure you know what you're doing. You even said you're sorry.
Anyways I'm logged out now cause I need a break after grinding half a relic in a couple of hours. Guess I'll DC travel again later and end up playing hide and seek since I'm pretty sure there's not enough there for a GM to care(even though I got a tell that's basically incriminating).
Totally agree that the behavior described in the OP is wrong - no question.
Though have to admit that I am questioning whether my occasional penchant toward trading minions I don't need, or food items, to newbies (followed by a PM welcoming them to the game) could be misconstrued now.....
Depends on how you do it. I'll plant myself near an Aetheryte and shout that I'm giving away items to new players (though I've also given them to not so new players that have asked). That way it's up to the player to approach me if they want rather than me intruding when they prefer to be left alone.Totally agree that the behavior described in the OP is wrong - no question.

I will say if multiple players have been bothered by your style of gift-giving, you probably would heard from a GM by now. Even if you're technically not doing something wrong, they'll contact a player if they get enough reports and suggest trying a different approach.
Again, overreaction. Was the OP harassed? Was the OP's gameplay affected? Was the OP harmed? Was the OP phished for their information? It is nowhere near comparable in real life.Just like in real life people do not like being followed. I guarantee you if someone you didn't like followed you everywhere you were going but never saying anything and just watching you...you would want something done about. Without the context from the OP at all we can tell just from the tell alone they are not only following but they are watching you.
I'm one that can generally hold my own and even i would be creeped out if someone was just following and watching me. Police would be involved immediately.
That DM might be cringe due to some oversharing involved. But they're literally just a player in open space with the OP. They could do that. It is OPEN space. For all. The area designed to have multiple players in it.
If I "watch", look, or target characters in Limsa, does that make me their stalker? That's a ridiculous mind set.
Yeah because blacklist makes the person magically disappear from your screen right ?Calling someone weirdo and a degenerate when someone was just making a point. Now that's harassment. Careful what you accuse people.
There's a difference between defending and pointing out exaggeration and overreaction.
If you file a harassment report, literally the system response will tell you to blacklist that person. If that could even count as harassment.
Oh wait it doesnt
The blacklist literally prevents interaction with that person. It does what it intends to do. If you do not want to share a screen with them, leave.
Do they HAVE to magically disappear from your screen? No. Like I previously said and is ignored, they have as much right to stand or wander in any open area as you.
