Unfortunate (and a little hilarious) that this happened.
Its not just an FFXIV thing, Im sure it happens in most games / MMOs where you can look...erm...attractive.
But yes, as some said, report them, blacklist them. And maybe going to a new DC for a little bit till it blows over will probly help.
I hate to be that guy but... this is overreacting.
Just blacklist if you didn't like their message and move on.
They have as much right to stand or wander where ever, whenever in any OPEN area as you.
No. Not doing anything means they can do it again and again and again. Sometimes they get bolder and creepier. Nip it in the bud now. Stopping it right now means someone else isn't subjected to this crap later.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
Then report when it's reportable. What are you going to do then? Ask them to leave? Like I said, they have as much right to stand or wander in any open space as much as you. Now if you don't want to be in the same space as them, then leave.
This is such a petty non-problem and it's giving me the "I-own-this-AFK-spot-in-Limsa-so-noone-else-can-stand-in-my-spot" energy.
Edit: Put on blacklist - no more messages/emote logs.

This is why I Elezen. No one bats an eye at us stretch-barbies.
Stalking pixels is against TOS? huh?
Where in the OP's post was this a "my spot, herp derp" point? There was none, they were doing their relic quests without even interacting with the creep, if you even bothered to read properly. Then report when it's reportable. What are you going to do then? Ask them to leave? Like I said, they have as much right to stand or wander in any open space as much as you. Now if you don't want to be in the same space as them, then leave.

OP is free to report to put a stop to it, but blacklisting does nothing against creeps deciding they can stalk people freely without GM's intervention.

Come on SE, more dyeable mogstore npc outfits and 60/70 alliance raid gear. Do them all.
Just like in real life people do not like being followed. I guarantee you if someone you didn't like followed you everywhere you were going but never saying anything and just watching you...you would want something done about. Without the context from the OP at all we can tell just from the tell alone they are not only following but they are watching you. Then report when it's reportable. What are you going to do then? Ask them to leave? Like I said, they have as much right to stand or wander in any open space as much as you. Now if you don't want to be in the same space as them, then leave.

I'm one that can generally hold my own and even i would be creeped out if someone was just following and watching me. Police would be involved immediately.

had an encounter like this....certain character was calling goth mama and hottie And all sorts of "nice" things...Part of me wants to say that some people should get out and learn how to actually socialize and part me of me wants to say that these same people should simply not socialize with anyone at all.
I had a bit of an encounter while working on some ARR relics.
I ran into this person while farming a fate for one of my books. Didn't talk to them, or say anything. Noticed they didn't have a relic but whatever. They can do whatever they want it's not really any of my business. I run around killing the enemies I need for my book and they don't catch up with me until I'm looking for the stuff in the U'Ghamaro Mines because of course they do. They mostly just sit there, doing nothing and following me around. I eventually move to a different world because I'm using discord to track the fates I need. They show up as I'm finishing up. Whenever I'd go into my dungeons, they'd be right there when I left the instance.
And it's like this for a good hour. I don't say anything because I really don't see that accomplishing anything.
I eventually DC travel home because I left my inks and alexandrites with one of my retainers. It's a good while before finally I get this in my tells:
I didn't say anything back but... really? Bruh I never accused you of stalking and you're defending yourself. Pretty sure you know what you're doing. You even said you're sorry.
Anyways I'm logged out now cause I need a break after grinding half a relic in a couple of hours. Guess I'll DC travel again later and end up playing hide and seek since I'm pretty sure there's not enough there for a GM to care(even though I got a tell that's basically incriminating).
what did i do?
say thanks , not replying to anything and continue my day
