problem is, as a healer "main" how do you expect to learn the wonderful variety that comes with learning how to heal with real people? personally that just boggles my mind. npc's will rarely stand in things...because they are designed not to. as a healer main, never had any problems with queues, so that point is not valid. dps yes, tank, kinda sorta.. healer... never had a problem aside from one time when in Endwalker a friend needed/wanted to do the neir series...

I dont "heal" when it's an NPC party, why would I? And you're clearly dismissing my point: que times are much longer for characters leveled through story as dps: it takes just that much longer to get to endgame. Not everyone likes watching paint dray, after all.

And I'm also not talking about people putting their tenth character through story, I'm talking about people doing it for the first or second time.

that was kind of my point, with an NPC party, what are you learning about healing? if you noticed, I did not dismiss your point about queue times being longer as a dps. I agree, dps queues are longer because most people, want to run as a dps, I was saying that as a healer, I very very very rarely saw longer queue times.

A ton of people love the concept of turning FFXIV into a single-player game. Many of them came from WoW and are still firmly attached to having that as their “main game”. So FFXIV, to them, is just a single player RPG to blow through during a content lull. And FFXIV also has something that WoW doesn’t: a strong Second Life-esque dating sim whereby you can create and sell your own outfits, skins, and even entirely new races, mounts and minions. You can even sell services like IRL photos and “adult time” in Discord, as many currently do in Party Finder.

Nowhere, in all of that, is the MMO that existed from 2013-2021. And that’s fine! Because there are other, better games we should be playing. Just destroy FFXIV so that we can have time for our other games.

7.0 is going to be the worst expac, by design: it’ll get people to wean off of FFXIV, play other SE titles, and lead Yoshida into retirement as he’s always planned. Sucks for fans to be treated as disposable, but it’s Square Enix, everyone knows how it is by now.

Heh, that actually is quite sobering and true, it is not the game of the past, you're right and it feel sad but hey Baldurs gate 3 is nearly here as I haven't touched it or watched anything and it is quite fun to get into new stuff.

I like having trusts to do the later MSQ trials! They take a really long time to fill when I try to queue for them with players!

As someone who has played on-off since 2014 (I only mention that because I think its unfair to say this is just casuals or newbies from WoW wanting this) I have to say I actually do like and appreciate the attempts to make the game more solo friendly. I am someone who enjoys endgame roulettes and stuff, but very much enjoys solo activities too, especially in regards to story content, and have enjoyed the Trust system. Do I think it was a must-add necessary thing? Not really, but I have known players who have been put off the game by being forced to do dungeons with other players (Especially when wanting to play a job outside DPS) in the MSQ alone. One reason why I like it is the fact we can actually go in and fight with the Scions/story NPCs, over having to make an excuse why the WoL has to go somewhere alone. Makes playing the story a bit more engrossing. Also, I really like the chance to get to experience the mechanics by playing them, over having to look them up. I love being able to have a ‘practice’ session with NPCs before tacking it with other players. Thats not to say the system is prefect, I can understand the fear it would put people of doing endgame group content, and why some dislike the changing of mechanics (although that said I feel a lot of the ARR ones needed a shave/could have used with a bit more editing…) but I would rather the game offers support to all types of players, and like it or not, people who want to play MMOs solo will always exist.

As for NPCs in MSQ trials… I dunno if we will get that. I seem to recall reading that the Hydaelyn battle was a ‘test’ of if they could do it, and they found it too tricky to implement? Not sure. I would not say no to such a thing, but I would have thought the 6.x trials would have had that feature in, if it was something they wanted to bring forward.

If it becomes even more single player than it already is...I'm 100% done. 7.0 will be the end for me. I won't be curious enough for 7.1.

I have cheaper single player games I can play that don't have subscriptions. Hell I have better MMOs that don't have subscriptions.

The only thing keeping me in the game is I wanna see what 7.0 is like. If it is anything less than stellar...I'm hanging up my bandana.
