You are not wrong about that .for rewards I have started playing the pvp and it is not that bad as I has suspected after watching some videos on youtubeYou were answered, but im going to fill in a little extra info in case someone else finds this thread in the future with similar questions.
Yes, unlocking PvP is completely optional. If you dont mind seeing an unfinished quest in your home town, then the game will basically never ask you about it. All the PvP modes currently in game are "balanced" around all characters being the same level and having equivalent gear - so trying one out never sees you put in the position of being endlessly ganked by someone way too high a level and overgeared to the point you cant touch them. They DO however use a different set of moves, so if you havent set a hotbar for them your first que will be messy when your abilities vanish(go to the PvP hub of the Wolves Den Pier and you can easily set a hotbar in a non-combat setting).
So why look at PvP? Well, if you enjoy it then Huzzah! Have fun. If you can tolerate it, then the different PvP modes can be used to level up classes starting at 30. An extra daily roulette(frontline) can be useful when you need just that little bit more exp. Beyond that, the rewards from PvP are varied. You see mounts, emotes, minions, music rolls, titles, glamours, and other tidbits. Nothing required to finish the game, but a lot of the stuff doesnt really have equivalents from other sources so if you want one you really need to participate in PvP to get it. If you cant stand PvP(in general or the specific way its set up in 14) then just accept that you wont be able to get the rewards tied to it.
