to keep my house ....but its getting old and silly now, very close to letting it go.

I play a new character and on a different server but even so, the game is stuck in the same routines and styles. Its not developing.
My true friends don't play the game anymore but they do on others so its hard to stay here.

It will be a sad day when/if you leave the game, since in general I've seen you on the forums for a fairly long time (easily recognize the sig since either HW or SB); you tend to be a force of positivity and wanting to see the game do better. So just throwing a thanks in there and wishing you well if you ever do choose to head off.


Aa for me; it's probably the RP groups I have so the $15 is less for.the game and more the social aspects. The game is definitely getting grating with how slow and underwhelming content is recently. And I still feel island sanctuary was a MASSIVE mistake.

If anything, this game is a bargain. I have thousands of hours, from one game and it often prevents me from spending $60, $70 or more on another "AAA" game that I may not even like, which is sure to have microtransactions itself. So many games in my steam library with so little time played and so much money spent. In FFXIV I get art style that I for the most part like, compelling story, great music, lots of goals to chase, and great interactions with great people (until I come to the forums)

Everquest was $15 a month in 1999. FFXIV is steal for entertainment. Been to a movie theater lately? $20 or so for a single ticket for a 2 to 3 hour movie that you are not guaranteed to even like. Not to mention the outrageous price of snacks.

Wow, you only got 9 years of entertainment out of one game? What a rip off.

Ya know, at some point, its okay to walk away from a game or any other hobby if it no longer feels worth your time or money.

Thats in part why I dont understand people complaining about the game being to much of the same over and over again - for me thats part of the appeal, to be honest. I quite enjoy the comfort of knowing what to do, what to expect (to a certain degree) and being able to have stuff to do in the game that allows me to make a little bit of progress in 30 minutes, while having the option to keep me busy for hours (raiding, farming, decorating) at the same time.

I feel the same way 100%. I've seen and heard so many online complain that FFXIV needs to experiment and try new things. Frankly, I prefer knowing basically how each expansion is gonna go down for the most part. There is a formulaic pattern and I appreciate it.

Until about the last time they added new wards I would only play for a month during story patches and go back to other games , especially since there was no eureka/bozja content this time around . Then I got a house, joined FC and now have static doing savage content .. mind you it wasn't something I went looking for or have the motivation to do . I personally couldn't care less for raiding but I still show up for them and don't care much if my house gets demo'd so I remain subbed until the eventually dissolvement after this tier

I started in Endwalker so for now I still have a looot of activities to catch up on in downtime. I do my Savage prog, and as a solo PF hero that's a good chunk of time. I can start on the two forays on old relic grinds and progging through all three DD. I also do the social thing, of course.

Will it be enough to keep me subbed until 7.0 uninterrupted? Who knows!

I like raiding, and I like playing with my friends. My friends play this game, so I play this game. If they all quit for good, I'd probably do the same. Either that or I'd only play every once in a while to clear savage whenever a new tier drops.

I watched someone have a mental breakdown in the Gold Saucer last night and that was well worth my sub for the month.

Invite me to the next one, sounds like good entertainment.

Housing and older content that I'm still reclearing. I've done every quest in the game outside of MSQ, maxed all my BTs, slowly farming up most of the older mounts(up to ShB right now), working on getting a set of all older relics, and just general achievement hunting.

I probably have enough to keep me busy with catching up but if 7.0 and 7.X+ doesn't have a lot of filling content then I guess it'll be over.

Personally i would say no, its not.

The realization that a 10 year old MMORPG is no longer worth your while shouldn't be earth shattering. I've dumped plenty of MMORPGs over the years. There is no shame in going out to find something new. Or even ... suspending a subscription for a year or two to go explore what AAA games you can play now that your time is not sunk into an MMORPG.

For me, the monthly fee is less expensive than going to a single movie theater showing. Even if it only provided 3 hours of entertainment a month, that would be more than enough to justify paying the subscription. Of course, I get a heck of a lot more than 3 hours of entertainment out of this game in any given month.

This game should not be a job. There isn't a requirement to play each and every day of the year (or even each and every month of the year).

When it ceases to entertain, and you're trying to determine if it's worth the continued cost, it may be time to let it go.

This is a misconception that you pay your subscription for the patch content. The patch content is incluced with the base game and expansions. When you buy the Endwalker expansion all future patches of that expansion are already included in the price of the expansion.

You don't had to pay a sub while a patch released to get access to the content of that patch later on.

So the literal answer to "What are you paying a subscription for?" is:

You pay to get access to the game. Everything else you have to pay extra for. (And without paying the sub you will lose access to that extra stuff which you have already payed for)

Well me personally I have a small FC with people I like a lot, I enjoy grinding stuff and especially fishing. I am doing Eureka again, have still things to do in Bozja, have a handfull of rare fish to catch, have to finish Eureka Orthos, crafter relics from ShB and EW, fates, leveling jobs, doing Diadem for the Pteranodon, clearing ShB ex trials for the mounts...

The list goes on and on.

Sure I am unsatisfied as well mostly because of the poor execution of the relic quest and the lack of incentive to do Criterion Dungeons - which I also have to finish still.

But even after 26k hours logged in the game, I am far from running out of content.

For me it's getting the plot 11 in Lavender Beds. There is currently one open right now for the next entry phase.

If I don't win this time with my shell of an FC, I will just quit this game until 2 weeks of the next expansion release to catch up on whatever bs I have to.
And if 7.0 doesn't bring anything new to the table, I'll probably be gone for good.
