The sad part of this is that those video editors are walking on eggshells within the game's ToS, creating content for this game is harsh and the community as a whole will immediately turn on them if any drama goes down.I have a mansion in a legacy server that’s keeping me hostage. Further more, I am a fan of the game, or rather was, so I want to stay paying for and support the 7.0 graphics changes but if the game doesn’t considerably change course in 7.0 then I will likely let the sub lapse.
It’s just unsustainable. Every expansion gets less complex and has less to do. Even the streamers who make a living out of this stuff can’t find reason to stay logged on.
What’s taking over now is video editors making funny videos and memes and altering the character models to make a story because there’s nothing worth of note in the game.
And anytime there is a slight drama the community blows it up into a huge deal to check and see if everyone is still around.
It's a very expensive form of VR Chat to hang out with our friends in our own houses and communities. The game itself is not the reason I choose to remain subbed, as I don't believe it would be a very remarkable experience as a single player game. (Ironically as they continue to push Duty support to make the game more single-player friendly.) If my friends quit, I will quit with them, just like I did when the WoW exodus turned established communities into dust overnight. Housing and the community obviously are just a mid expansion crutch, and without those I'd be unsubbed.
Given my earlier posts, in my case it would be cake of the month club.Ok. Tell me more about this Jelly of the Month club.![]()
- I still need to finish my MSQ
- Finishing Pandaemonium raids
- Im working on relic weapons for all my jobs (3 of 7 done)
- Im trying to start Eureka and failing at it cos how boring it is
- Planning on farm Gwiber and Cat mounts
- Planning on start Blue Mage things
So yeah, I still have way to go
Game is fun I play it everyday for hours and hours. I've been playing since 2.0 beta and never unsubbed.Just a genuine question to all the players out there.
You are paying ~$112 per patch (Almost triple that if you have max retainers).
For the price of a full AAA title, is the content that XIV offers you in a single patch worth its subscription cost?
Personally i would say no, its not.
I have the maximum retainers addition, and it costs me ~$350 per patch to say subscribed to XIV, that is the cost of 4 full priced AAA new release games, for what is around a month, maybe two, worth of content.
After realizing this, i can't in good faith keep throwing money at a product that isn't receiving enough attention by its developers, player numbers between major patches fluctuate to the point where the game becomes basically unplayable in places like Materia.
So what do you spend your $112+ on per patch cycle?
EDIT: Seems i was wrong here, patches are 4 months, just feels like 8.
So i guess thats still $220/patch which is still pretty bad for the content that is released.
FFXIV is cheapest(price) MMO i have played.
☆SCH/AST/DNC/VPR/SMN☆
Because I play alt characters that I've become so attached to so I have quadruple of the progression to do
