FF16 expansions/DLCs in the work? How will this affect FF14?

We have an extremely unbelievable claim that FF16 is standalone and no DLCs are planned, from CBU3.

Then why is Leviathan not in the game (and yes, it DOES actually exist, Joshua mentions him)? Why are there still many poorly explained bits of lore in the game (like the Blight)? Why do we barely visit many areas in the game like the Northern Territories?

Sorry, but SE said 8 elements, and we got 7. It's incredibly obvious that future DLCs ARE planned. The next FF16 DLC will involve Leviathan.

So is CBU3 actually going back to working on FF14 then? I highly doubt it. What is far more likely is that they are hard at work making the next FF16 DLC instead. FF14's Patch 7.0 will not be a revitalization, but will be yet another siphon.

So? All signs point to a FF16 DLC being planned. And based on past history, it'll only damage FF14's content delivery even further.

They actually said that? Yeah, I don't think SE would turn down a chance to squeeze some more money out of its customers. I can absolutely see SE making DLC or an expansion for this game.

I hope they do make DLC for 16. I enjoy the game quite a bit. That said it hasn't been announced and SE can have very extreme views on when a game is successful. 3 million copies is probably a disappointment for them based on what they've said about other games in the past so it could go either way.

Making DLC is substantially less work than developing the game itself. Adding another 10 hours of content into 16 isn't going to force 14 into maintenance mode.

Yeah but its hilarious to think people believe that they're going to go back to working on XIV when they could instead start a new project.

3m in 2 weeks is "a disappointment" for a ps5 exclusive?

- Diablo IV sold ~6m WITH PC and XBOX in a month
- Elden Rings sold ~3m copies PC+XBOX+PS (~1.3m for PS5+PS4) in 3 months, after a year reached 20m+ copies (~6-8m for ps4-ps5).

I'm pretty sure they aren't disappointed.

LOL we won't have the same team on FFXIV again. Move on.
From FFXVI, SE will use them on different projects. FFXIV will turn into a playground for novices with some veterans.
FFXIV final version will be the next FF Online.

It’s square though. They haven’t said this but I remember them saying Tomb Raider that sold 3.4 m was a disappointment. Not sure they would say this openly about a core Final Fantasy game though.

I think that Tomb Raider was multiplat (I can’t remember. One of them was exclusive for a while) so maybe that’s the difference. I know on some gaming forums people joke about square always being unhappy with sales.
