Even if they can detect it, so what? I know it's officially not allowed, but, unless something has changed, as far as I know it's fine as long as you're only using it for yourself and not being a dick to other people because of their parses. I personally don't use it but I also don't care if other people do.

Same goes for cosmetic mods, I think? I know gshade/reshade is tentatively allowed (and won't be neccessary after 7.0 from the looks of it), but the rest should be fine, as long as people don't go around posting NSFW pictures of the game everywhere.

Not without encryption, and there are a number of reasons that you generally don't want to encrypt your client data and a number of reasons that this encryption rarely lasts long enough to be meaningful.

Not true at all for accessing client-side data - and if you do need to ask the server for anything, you can just do the thing in the client and capture what the server sends you ("packet capture"). That's also invisible, since you're monitoring the local network, not the program (or server) specifically in a way that it can see. Again, there are potential encryption methods that can be used here, but with all the same weaknesses. They will always get in eventually. It's spectacularly, transcendentally difficult to lock someone out of data you're processing on their own PC.

Dev/test builds are completely separate from the customer (production) client. The only way you're finding in-development material in a production client is if it was left in the client build for whatever reason. Similarly, some server-side data is simply impossible to capture from outside because it's only ever processed server-side: loot tables, boss scripts, etc. etc.

I see a lot of statics simply using it as if it were a necessary tool.

ACT requires admin permissions to run, which is a huge red flag.

It also does not read data from combat log, it requires network permissions to sniff network packets to read data. And the data it cannot read, it just makes it up with an approximation (dot tick damage)

Recently ACT had to be reworked for ffxiv because sqex changed the way they handled network packets, which should be telling

Oh and that goes for your mods too, if you think cosmetic mods are undetectable you are also delusional.

The only reason you are allowed to use all this shit is because sqex allows you to.

Okay, I'm going to do my best to explain this as a stupid westerner who has delved a bit into Japanese culture.

Openly allowing mods is them admitting they left important features out of their game that people need. They will not do this because its losing face. They don't care if you use mods, they care if you make it publicly known that you use mods, because it makes them look like they failed at something.
