    Although I would love for them to add a dot mage, it would be kind of a slap in the face for the old summoner community who loved the job and have experienced the destruction of dots and the depth that the old SMN had.
    I love the irony that Black Mage has arguably the single-best designed DoT in the entire game since probably around Stormblood/Shadowbringers and nobody is jealous about Thunder III/IV + Sharpcast interactions, even if it is effectively just one DoT and a multipurpose refresher.

    But hey gotta make sure the next arbitrary DoT on a job is either on a 60s CD at duration shorter than 60s or be a GCD with 30s / 45s duration. Especially if you're a healer. /s

    ...for reference, reason why I am malding about durations so hard:
    - Shadowflare 30s CD, 15s duration, couldn't be deployed along with Sacred Soil
    - Bio II 30s, Bio I 18s, Miasma I 24s, Miasma II 12s (and AOE) for our dear Arcanist-likes
    - Bane spread potentially resetting DoT timer on new target
    - Aero II 18s, Aero III 24s + AOE (that 18s dot also made weaving a lot less shit when 1.5s cast time wasnt a thing yet)
    - other DoT extensions like HW Summoner Contagion with Garuda-Egi
    - Salted Earth being a 21s dome at 45s CD (about as irregular as it can get)

    We had variety, we lost it in favour of "accessibility" or some shit. Thanks Shadowbringers/Endwalker.

    DPS cooldowns: Darkness does dark damage

    Heat: does fire damage

    Drain: deals non elemental damage and converts damage to HP shares cooldown with Absorb

    Absorb: deals non elemental damage and converts damage to MP shares cooldown with Drain

    Haste: Faster spell casts and makes dots tick faster for 15 secs

    AoE: Bane: spreads all dots on all target in range but dots do less damage

    Malaise: filler does damage to all enemies in range

    Defensive cooldown: Wall reduces damage by 15%

    Limit Break: Pestilence: giant Poison Blob drops to the ground at high speed then plagues the land below on enemies
    I'd dig 'green mage' if, for FFXIV, it had a more primal naturalist vibe... Kind of the Druid/Shaman caster rpg archetype, which is something we never had in any FF title (closer was the Berserker, but that's not a spellcaster) - this even kind of aligns with Yoshi P's will of designing unique jobs for XIV.

    Conjurer/White Mage doesn't really fulfill that fantasy. To me they are the instagram witches, while a Green Mage would be the actual swamp witch, lol.

    sorry for taking so long to reply and you are right I dunno where I got Darkness from but upon doing more information it turns out from the game brave Exodus they can use a spell called Barwater with this information I updated some of the spells to do Water spells now so ty for catching this!

    We all know the next caster job will most likely be dot based. People been wanting this for ages. The devs usually deliver. People wanted an edgy job. We got reaper. People wanted a healer that damages to heal. We got sage (Sorta) now we will see this dot mage in 7.0. I hope it’s all what people been asking for so we can stop flooding the forums about it lol. Devs please give these people a dot mage. My goodness.

    DoTs snapshot their potency at time of cast in FF14, so it's simple enough.     The rest is just optimization and potency tweaks to bring the job in line.

    The real problem with DoT jobs is the debuff cap. Suppose your alliance raid ends up with 2 or 3 DoTmages, but the boss can only accomodate the DoTs from 1.5 of them?

    then leave all dots from SMN caster.. why they will create a dot class as they say they hate dots... and active pets in raid..

    It's not that they hate pets, the problem is that they don't know how to code AI that work properly :s
    the AI of the Egis were catastrophic, even the old fairies had the same problem.

    even look at the old dungeons that were changed because the trusts weren't able to solve the most basic of mechanics.

    Okay, now before I go too deep, do you remember all those problematic edge cases that caused them to remove all the dots from the game, with very few exceptions? All the mechanics where if there's a DOT involved, you do things differently instead? All the edge cases where you could be dead, but still win? All the oddball things where something is being damaged offscreen because it left the playfield, but has a dot on it...

    You got plans for those, right?

    Cause I love this idea, I don't want the first jerk to come along and break the game with it.
