Adding a Magic Dot Spec Class

So I put a lot of thought into what class would be suited to be a Dot using class for ff14. After a lot of thought I came up with one for Square to check out and see if anyone else likes the idea so here it is! FF14 needs more variety when it comes to DPS and I know some of us miss when Summoner had dots or when Dragoon had bleeds and so on all I can do is hope they read this enjoy!

Green Mage: Magic Dot DPS class for FF14

    Weapons: Mace or Wand

Main dots: Bio, Miasma, Virus, and Sap all dealing potency damage

dps filler: Barwater Does water damage to an enemy

Green Magick: as the dots do damage and Bio you gain 3 Green magic energy

once it gets to a certain point of Green energy you can cast a spell that puts on Venom a Massive dot damage dealing spell

Spellbound: There will be another source of energy called Spellbound which can after your dots do a certain amount of damage you can refresh em all at once Or Use Lancet dealing non elemental damage that draining Hp and MP from a target

DPS cooldowns: Toxify: does damage based on dots on target

    Bubble: does water damage

Drain: deals non elemental damage and converts damage to HP shares cooldown with Absorb

Syphon deals non elemental damage and converts damage to MP shares cooldown with Drain

Haste: Faster spell casts and makes dots tick faster for 15 secs

AoE: Bane: spreads all dots on all target in range but dots do less damage

barwater ll: filler does damage to all enemies in range

Defensive cooldown: Wall reduces damage by 15%

Limit Break: Pestilence or Whirlpool: giant Poison Blob drops to the ground at high speed then plagues the land below on enemies or creates a giant Whirlpool on the ground to do damage

*cries in pre-EW Summoner and pre-ShB Scholar*

With some minor exceptions like Haste being a Time Mage thing and Dark/ra/ga being usually not Green Magic, I would love a poison mage.

Darkness is a green magic spell in final fantasy tactics advance 2 but I do see your point as far as Haste goes it can be Green magic but at the same time I know its time Magic also so that would be up to square if they changed the name of it and ty for the positive feedback! This game really needs a dot focused class again.

Fair on the FFTA2. My basis on Green Magick was actually on another game in the Ivalice series, FF12, where Green Magick was primarily obscure spells or buff/debuff based (in the Zodiac Age many of those spells became White/Black Magick) where as the Dark Series was always Arcane Magick (along with Death).

But yeah honestly a lack of dot jobs sucks. However, I want the dots to be on different durations. If there is anything dot jobs did wrong was the streamline of every dot to be on equal durations and on obnoxiously long timers, as seen right now on BRD.

Is it? I never played the game but according to the wikipedia page, there is no Darkness spell for Green Magic or any poison for that matter.

This other source also suggests more or less the same. https://finalfaninsider.com/game-gui...en-mage-guide/

I can’t imagine they’ll do a poison caster. 7.0 might be the first 1 new job expansion and I don’t think a poison mage would be very flashy. It also just feels like they would just be reusing a lot assets that SMN lost.

What we don’t have is a caster that utilizes water magic other than a couple of white magic defensive spells.

I’m still hoping for an earth, wind, water counterpart to BLM, even if it’s just thematically opposite.

I would love DoT based DPS classes. Unfortunately, they wouldn't fit into the current 2 minute burst window meta. I would also love a HoT healer, but I guess that's also only a pipedream.

DoTs snapshot their potency at time of cast in FF14, so it's simple enough. Just have some big 2-minute skill that amplifies the next DoT(s) you land, or something that consumes all DoTs to create a superDoT, or anything else that causes refreshing your DoTs under burst window to be a sharp DPS gain.

The rest is just optimization and potency tweaks to bring the job in line.

The real problem with DoT jobs is the debuff cap. Suppose your alliance raid ends up with 2 or 3 DoTmages, but the boss can only accomodate the DoTs from 1.5 of them?

    lmfao

If they ever made a new job that was DOT based this games community would absolutely riot over it because SMN WAS the DOT based job.
