    Which PC to buy?.

Hi guys, my girlfriend really wants to get in to this game and we need to buy a relatively cheap PC that will be able to run the game on basic settings.

I know a little about PCs but not enough to find a cheap one that will actually run the game without much trouble.

Can anyone tell me a website in the UK where i'm able to get a just above min spec gaming PC that will run FF14 and wont cost an arm and a leg?

    Many thanks in advanced.

    I can reccomned Lenovo PCs
Can probably find one there if they are avaliable in UK,
If not, can also go the PS4/Ps5 route and use a usb KBM as well

i didn't wanna go the ps5 route as the control method actually looks quite complicated.

So... just connect a keyboard? Plenty of players just run a bluetooth setup, I'm sure.

But, that aside, the game is 10 years old. You'd probably have a harder time finding a computer that doesn't support the game.

The game is built to be played with a controller just as much as M&KB. It's very well-designed and intuitive.

As mentioned above, the game is quite old and most computers you get now are likely going to run it. It can be run on an office computer or laptop without a graphics card thanks to intel's onboard graphics. But you should be aware that there will be a graphics update in the next expansion (releasing in 2024) that will increase the system requirements.

For the system requirements, refer to (and click Windows) https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/syste...ments/#windows

What is your price range? I'm pretty sure that the cheapest PC here should be able to run it (and click Recommended Specs) https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/gaming-pc/#specs

You can also try searching ebay by the specs mentioned in the system requirements. You might find a PC there with reused and refurbished parts, or that someone is selling because they upgraded.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

There's a number of sites you could try. My personal go-to ones are Overclockers, Amazon and Ebuyer. PC Specialist is also a good one too. (UK based player too)

Unless you're wanting to run everything on maximum shininess with a huge framerate at 4k, most systems around £500 should be able to play the game sufficiently.

I'd also ask yourself is this system just for FFXIV? If so, you'd be better off getting a console to be fair. If not, then don't try to find something that just matches the recommended specs (there's a graphics update coming - hopefully in 7.0 - so recommended specs will likely change) - aim higher so you can play other games and use it for other purposes.

You could try out the Endwalker Benchmark tool on your PC to see how good your PC runs it and scale down accordingly for your wifes PC. A £500 PC should be good enough to run it fine. My PC was 1000€ at the hight of PC Part prices. For Reference

    Price: 1000€
    GPU: Nvidia 3060
    CPU: Ryzen7 5800X

Make sure when you buy your wife a PC to buy an M.2 Nvme SSD of 500GB - 1TB. These ones are a huge boost, and gotten extremely cheap. You can get a 1TB one for around 40-50€, not sure about pound tho.

Cyberpowerpc and build redux have UK branches and are decent system integrator sites that you can buy a prebuilt or pick the parts yourself and have them custom build it. You really don't need any kind of crazy build as FF14 isn't that demanding of a game.

Otherwise, as others have said, a playstation might be a simpler option. Controller scheme honestly isn't that bad and you can plug in a mouse and keyboard if she'd prefer that input. I played on M&K on the PS4 during the heavensward expansion back in the day when my PC broke and it worked great.
