Wait, is it dodge/evade? Can you evade those attacks?
Some knockbacks rely on you taking damage so if you had Hallowed up or a big enough shield to absorb the attack it will not knock you back, although that usually doesn't happen in any higher end content.
Hard to say definitively without knowing in what fight you resisted the knockback.
More than likely you just had a shield on you, or Hallowed Ground.
as others have mentioned,
KBs that deal damage can sometimes be avoided if you have a strong shield and or do not take the damage
An example is Ifrits volcanic burst.
Yea if you're shielded some knockbacks are negated completely. This is more common in ARR and less common as you prog the game however. As SCH shields were deemed too strong and this was one of the ways the Devs used of combating that, as it nullified mechanics of positioning in certain cases. However even when it was common you still very much approached each one on a case by case basis, there is a lot of arbitrary design decisions to what would later on be called common mechanics with standardized visuals as it's encounter design language. Those discrepancies have largely been fixed as the Devs make content Trust compatible, but I do hope they can allocate time in their schedule to at some point take a look at the non Trust compatible content, not to make them compatible but just an overview of the visualizations for mechanics and maybe standardize them so they match more fully. I think that would go a long way.
They could even keep these knock-back inconsistencies but give them unique damage typing so when you're hit by such things you can eventually eyeball precisely which ones as a Shield healer you can help mitigate, which can help push Healers in general to GCD shield the party more regularly and build up more considered habits should players wish to proceed to EX and above content. And at least introduce some decision making for Healers in casual content in terms of looking for opportunities to maximize everyone's uptime on the boss w/o worrying about certain knockbacks.

Another possibility is if you used intervene at the right moment you’ll gap close to the monster at the same time as the knockback so it’ll look like you ignored it.
This is so fun to pull off in the final fight in Orbonne. Best feeling of maximizing uptime ever. VERY latency heavy though in my experience. Was close to being consistent with it when it was still relatively new content but I'm old now.
