Idea: Helping the grind - Crafting

I've been trying to get my crafting classes higher than 10 for a month and the more I try, the more I want to quit FFXIV entirely. This is a bad thing as I'm sure we can all agree, as players are important to this game. To this end my poor LS mates have been subject to my harassment and anger and it made for some enlightening conversations about how the grind could be made less monotonous, or at the very least less inductive to rage quitting XIV all together.

A lot of people are advocating auto crafting, I'm not actually ok with that. I think it would be much better if you got additional XP for crafting additional items each synth. For arguments sake let's say you get 100 XP from 1 iron bar. Crafting 3 iron bars should give you 300 XP, 100 XP for each iron bar you made. With this we could maybe only see HQing only available with single melds, but that is a different discussion we can have. I also think it would be better if you could make multiple things like gauntlets too so with the additional XP. The small addition of XP for each item made, instead of per single synth would make the grind easier overall which I think would be a good thing. If implemented in addition to the topic by Xannonite: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Chain-Bonuses could very well make crafting reasonable an something more people will enjoy.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

I get 3000 xp/synth, how much more XP do you want?

Seriously though, crafting in 2.0 will be crafting in 1.22 except you will initiate it through a Recipe book, you can auto craft NQ and you can gain XP and Recipes via quests. That will be well beyond sufficient.

Agree that if you make 3 iron bars it should be triple the XP.

Even though the synth is 3 times as fast the risk is 3 times as high so think you should get the full XP regardless.

I also think that doing a recipe for 3 items should net you 3 times the achievements progress, its monotonously boring doing single crafts one after the other (no wonder there is no much botting going on in this game)

Make crafting fun, more interactive instead of spamming the same button over and over, look at Vanguards crafting system where you are encouraged to tidy up loose ends and repair mistakes as you go along.

This could work that if you are unsuccessful you have to use a skill to repair that damage you just caused.

I don't know what they plan with CP in 2.0 but I would like to see durability abolished in 2.0 and replaced with CP (think like mana but for crafting)

Each skill, including normal crafting options such as Standard, Careful and Rapid would cost CP, no randomness no chance to fail a craft, but the more quality you gain before the progress bar completes equals the amount of XP and HQ probablity.

It's similar to the current system minus the randomness and chance to fail.

I think it would make crafting a lot more enjoyable and more people would probably try it.

Crafting to 30 should be easy.... 10 should be piece of cake, you must be doing something wrong... and for the ones that uses triple materials are for higher level people to make materials faster so for leveling purpose stick with 1 at a time and you get yourself 3x EXP for doing it 3 times.

Sure crafting takes a while to do if you know how to do simple math it's really easy system... Just figure out how whats the average durability loss is on standard and careful craft and how much progress you get with each (stay away from rapid crafting unless you're taking your chance at end when durability is lower than 10% and you are still 70% into progress)
From there you just need to see how much durability you got left and how much progress you're into crafting then decide to weather to go for standard or careful. Best to get god send abilities for starters that gives you 20% progress for starters - you can get these at Lv36 weaver, alchemy and I think was armorer, forget last one..., once you get higher level to try and get the 30% progress ones available from Gold Smithing and Armorer at lv45. Also when crafting higher level items at low level I suggest putting at least one "Brand of" even if it's not same as your crafting element to shut down 1 elemental burst to give you more chance +20 quality (or +100 if same element)

Local leve for crating should give you from 900-2500 exp depending on the level difference, also if you don't have much god send abilities for beginners to try and rely much on food, rest bonus, and grand company manuals that offers EXP boost.

Ya at the start crafting is tough because you have no abilities to work with to improve your quality for more xp. It's not until you level 2-3 crafts that things become easier which is a system I am unpopular with and hope they change later on. Since as it stands now in order to be a decent crafter for one craft you HAVE to level and obtain xyz skills, so you become the same Alchemist 50 with CRP 40, BSM 40 and Gold 50 because you NEED those abilities. It sucks but sadly that's how it stands now for 2.0 I'm hoping they follow XI in the sense that you'll only be able to take 1 craft past 50 BUT still give us the option to go through the story quest for all the crafts, <_< since it would suck to have to lv another player just to see story. Or create an either or requirement for class quest.

Reintroduce Guild marks for DOH and have it where say the story for Alchemist is unlocked as:
Alchemist 55 or purchased abilities x and y from Guild.

The idea is basically to condense people into one craft focus but still let them purchase the abilities crafters learn past 50. By doing this you at least allow the opportunity to be unique to what each person can craft rather then one person who can do everything.

I just don't like a system (for crafting only) where you have to level other crafts to gain their "skills" you should be able to learn it at x guild without having to be forced to learn it through leveling it. It's the same reason why they removed the requirements for crafts which required 2 crafts to synth because of this very issue, but it's still there.

I slightly derailed this though the above comes down to unnecessary grinding, I hope they cut down on it when they decide to increase to raise the level cap and create a method in which crafters can distinguish themselves from one another rather then just all crafters are 50 and can all do the same thing.

are you just asking for more exp or even free exp or are you asking for a guide on what to craft and what skills to get first?
because it really only takes 30-36 hours of game play to get to 50 in any craft

If this is true, can I get some leveling guides? because I can't do it on my own, I've been trying for a while.

There are leveling guides in most of the crafting sub forums.

And do try to raise the quality as much as possible during your synth. You get quite a bit more EXP that way. Using your Rested Bonus, Company Engineering Manuals, and food also helps.
