Off-Topic forums.

A comment was made that a customer wishes to be able to discuss other Square Enix titles that are coming out or are presently available. I would like to let you guys know that we do have such forums at our Members Site: http://na.square-enix.com/go/forum/viewboard

While the FFXIV forum will direct you back here, you will find a plethora of Square Enix titles for you to discuss. =)

All that does is split the community and focus attention elsewhere. If not now, there should be an off-topic forum AFTER 2.0.
The reasons have already been mentioned and are more than valid. Off-topic = stronger community = more forum dedication all around.

exactly!!!


thing is the hype around 2.0 will be extreme, people will come to this game and these forums originally were beta forums. If the popularity of FFXIV BOOMS because of 2.0 expect to lock a lot of threads because people are just going to come in and say whatever they want to say. Thats why maybe having an off topic forums would be decent. plus don't we have to sign up again to use the SE forums?

How does it split the community? Each game has its own community. Why are we so big and elitist to deserve to say that we are THE community?

Say... Much like how there is a link in that forum of this one, would it be possible to include a link from this, to that one?
This way, if one is so inclined as to find a proper section to post about other SE titles, and is a denizon of this board, a simple, let's say, "General SE Games" link would be present, the person would see, click, and be redirected there.

That would certainly be a better setup

We as the players understand the point of other forums and having a forum focused on FFXIV discussion but at the same time you send us elsewhere when we rather just talk to solely the people who we play and enjoy the same game with. A lot of us like to hear the opinion of others who enjoy the same things we do and that is why we wish there to be an Off Topic thread and it isn't really that unreasonable to ask for. As someone says it causes a split in the community and we are trying to foster and promote community communication.

This. The game should be bringing us together, and the forums should acknowledge that we are diverse in our tastes and interests. We're no longer in an era where you can have a forum solely dedicated to one thing and be done. Every major site with forums has off-topic discussions or something along those lines. This should not be any different.
