Off-Topic forums.

We do not have any plans on opening an off-topic forum. The main reason is that the forums are designed specifically for us to gather feedback and also to provide a place for the community to come together and discuss FINAL FANTASY XIV. An off-topic forum would not further either of those goals and as such we have no plans to introduce one.

I'd say the "Website Feedback & Suggestions" forum is a perfectly valid place for suggesting that the website has an Off-topic forum.

What about an SE general forum to allow the community to discuss SE released titles, I'm pretty sure the feedback obtained from that could be used further the agenda of gathering feedback that can be useful to the company lol.

I actually asked for this at release of forums and got much of the same response. I mainly wanted an off topic forums to talk about other Final Fantasy titles and/or to FF14 members about off topic discussions. Though there are plenty of other websites we can use such as FFXIV.ZAM or Eorzeapedia.

I'll just paste what I said in the other thread about that mentioned Bay's response.

This is very poor reasoning. If this is a place for the community to come together, then there needs to be something to allow off-topic discussions (or just general gaming). Each of us plays and sees much more than just Final Fantasy XIV, and if anything it would allow community focus to remain here rather than spread it throughout various sites. Not to mention that as a community it would also allow us to help each other out where possible.

WoW's forums happens to have a general gaming/hardware sub-forum, and amidst talking Skyrim, Megaman being abandoned by Capcom, and other MMOs and how they're faring compared to WoW, you also have immensely helpful threads like the primer a poster made for building a PC from scratch, along with several threads asking for OS, anti-virus and hardware advice and people trying to help and give advice as best as they can.

Sure, you run the risk of it turning into something like that trollfest known as Allakhazam's assylum sub-forum, but meh.
