I see that is definitely an issue, it reminds me how unstable this game can be at the foundation with the random log outs and latency drops.Yes and no. I still remember that when Island Sanctuary released it completely fried the housing interiors because both run on the same server.
So while IS proves that they can do instanced housing, I'm not so sure about it working in practice when a massive amount of players try to get into their house at the same time, which would be a lot more common if they gave fully fledged houses to everyone.
Just to go back to my earlier post, but wouldn't one solution would simply make a instance map that allowed X amount of players to build on your land as neighbors along with your house as well? Should the players stop being active their house data becomes dormant and is automatically removed from the map, but not exactly destroyed as you can load your housing data within your own instance or in another neighbor's instance if allowed by the owner of the instanced land whenever you return to FFXIV at a later date.
Also the instance maps will be reflected where you're building at, so like Ishgard you get more snow tiles or mountains, etc. to play with.\
A game within a game basically.
It be like the Sims in a sense, and also get a bit of the developer's perspective of building up zones for fun.

All I know is yall been lied to about instance housing. Other games are doing that - PSO2 NGS just recently came out with Creative Space which is basically instance housing, and SEGA has less resources for sure than SE. The "Island Sanctuary" can function as that but whatever.
Almost everything said about why we can't have instanced housing is player generated and not from a SE source. All I know is yall been lied to about instance housing. I think I really got spoiled by RIFT's housing system (except the art aesthetic, that needed help). I'm always going to judge a MMO's housing system against it unless something better were to finally appear. Combine FFXIV's art aesthetic with RIFT's housing functionality and I would be an extremely happy camper.
idk sounds like they should hire better codersYes and no. I still remember that when Island Sanctuary released it completely fried the housing interiors because both run on the same server.

Not really a secret that code they cobbled together during ARR's short development is coming back to bite them now.
But calling it entirely their fault isn't all that fair either, it's hard to anticipate where your game will be in 10 years and whether or not the code will hold up when the size of the game has increased and new systems are added on top of the base.
Look at WoW as a recent example when they added their first support dps spec and it completely broke the boss fights because the game was never designed for them.
On the other side you have things like XIV's completely bloated item database that was already flawed in it's inception.
The only thing that NGS and 14 have in common is disappointing their playerbase. All I know is yall been lied to about instance housing. Side note, I honestly hope that we don't just get a copy paste of NGS' "housing" since it was basically created for people to design levels and activities rather than build beautiful homes. I have yet to see any outside of one person's that looks like something I'd actually live in. The majority of designs looks like blocks stacked on top of each other in an unappealing way. Felt like they were trying to emulate a mix of genshin and the Sims but got lost along the way.

They're really limiting themselves since their job postings all say you need to be familiar with a 10 year old engine, live in tokyo, and speak fluent japanese. Not too many people to hire who fit those at this point, and the people who do are not going to be the top programmers in the industry.
There's probably also the issue that those who do fit their requirements can just join one of the thousands of mobile game developers, do half the work and get the same amount of pay. They're really limiting themselves since their job postings all say you need to be familiar with a 10 year old engine, live in tokyo, and speak fluent japanese.
