Please, add a threshold for every loot system of the game

Nobody likes RNG. People like progression. If you ever went hunting for glams on dungeons unsync you know how hell it is to spend 4 hours doing the same thing over and over again and waiting for the one piece of glam to drop while you keep losing braincells. Grinding is supposed to be fun and chill and not damaging to your brain. Can you imagine if instead of PVP rankings we had "if you win, you have a chance to climb"? We have examples of good RNG systems in the game already, Wondrous Tails is a good one. Yeah, it's RNG af but I can spend points to try again, and if I keep playing I can refill these points. All I need is the feeling that I'm not totally dependent on RNG.

For dungeons specifically, it would be much better if whenever you have a specific type of gear, it wouldn't drop on chests. And no, you don't need to clear the last boss for that (most of the glam huntings will be unsync after all). It's still RNG but it's limited, and even if I don't get my item straight away, I will feel that I'm working towards a goal.

Personally I've never found grinding itself to be fun and chill past maybe the first hour if there's novelty in it.

What's fun and chill? Doing the grinding with friends as you chat, joke with each other, come up with crazy little competitions as you grind, etc.

If everything you want dropped in your lap first try (not to mention the same happening for everyone else), what would keep the game interesting in the long run? What would generate suspense and excitement to keep you engaged, give you memories and stories to share with others?

The game does have the point systems in place for things we need for character progression. There's nothing wrong with using RNG for the things we only want.

If the grinding isn't fun, bring friends with you the next time. Or ask yourself if the item is really worth the braincells you think you're losing.

I still remember running Skalla 76 times back in Stormblood to get myself caster top. It wasn't very fun.

Tracking all loot is a bit much but say in other systems like critical hits I know blizzard has had a history of preventing outliers, because chance is chance and while unlikely you 'could' be exceptionally unlucky and that wasn't fun / feel good.

Your idea certainly could help so long as someone is willing to hold onto everything to laser down the RNG.

In the past in order to "2 birds 1 stone" a glamour log and RNG thought of a crystal library and aether forge, where the long and short was almost all content rewards could be broken down into materia (aether) of that space. Let's say the The Tower of Babil, which has gear drops meaning a lot of potential gear. The scouting boots drop which you don't need, so you compress it into The Tower of Babil aether. You get back and you can exchange it to the GC for GC tokens (making a convenient stack possible), or you could de-synthesize it for a larger pool of random materials (if you were looking for specific materials it might be better not to stack them as such). Yet more importantly you decide rather than that you collect them till some threshold X, and you go into the crystal library (imo think Chrono Trigger end of time, but whatever works lol) and you trade those X aethers to unlock ALL the glamours of that content in your glamour log. It is now effectively 1 variable "1/0" representing 20+ potential visuals. However, another thing you could do is take those essences and exchange them for items from that content, like armor, cards, etc. Before you unlock the glamour set it might be more expensive, but afterwards it would be significantly cheaper.

May use the items in crafts, quests, relics, etc, as well since it's available.

Sort of a memory cheap way of getting both a glamour log and RNG control. To help with new content could keep that space locked until determined period of time (players on the edge of content might have to have content last longer, even if it's via a unfortunate grind).

Had concerns for Blue Mage as well, where I personally had solo'd Ifrit around 40-50 times... and that was very annoying. I thought Libra / Condensed Libra could be used to help with chance learning, with perhaps two different styles where one is if they cast it during the debuff and the other being a buff on your character that tracks failed spell learnings, increasing per stack, and then resets once you learn a spell.

I could see them doing something like this, though probably more along the lines of the same guaranteed piece at the end of the level-cap dungeons as you get from the leveling dungeons. Would be a good solution to glam farming as even at the worst case scenario, you'd only need a very specific number of runs to get a full set of gear.

You know, an easy solution would be to put every single old dungeon armor into the poetics shop. So, now, it would be everything 6.x and back.

Or, alternatively, after the final boss give a piece of armor for the job you are on like it already does, but make it so it gives you a piece you don’t have (so no “you already have xxx”). In the event you have all the pieces, I dunno, award extra poetics?

At the very least, make the x0 dungeons give the free piece of loot for your current job like most, if not all leveling dungeons do.

Should just add cards to the totems menu after the content becomes old, like with mounts.

Maybe add a vendor for buying old dungeon gears that uses less-used currencies, like old hunt currencies, that becomes available after you've cleared the dungeon and the expansion it belonged to.

I ran Skalla 472 times to get the aiming top.

Yes, that is right. 472 times. Give or take. I started counting after about 20. I fell into the sunk-cost fallacy after about 100.

I didn't lose it a single time. I just flat out never saw it for 472 times.

Luckily, I had some friends who really pitied me so when Shadowbringers rolled around, they would unsync it with me for the last 100-150.

    -

This is also when I decided that I am NEVER discarding any dungeon gear from my glam dresser no matter how "easy" it is to reobtain.

So, yeah. I would absolutely support a threshold for obtaining gear. I wouldn't even mind if it was something crazy like 50 - 100. Just something.
