    Can Square Enix stop killing off old content

    What's the point of developing whole-ass systems if you're just going to abandon them and never build on it? Chocobo racing? Minion battles? Levequests? Expert recipes?

    Maybe there wouldn't be a lack of content if we get iterations and innovations on existing content types instead of them trying to build a whole-ass new system every expac. Please realize that when people complain about those types of content, that doesn't mean they want it removed or for the developers to stop making such content forever. They want it improved upon. They want better iterations.

    Hey, some people like it when they finish helping rebuild doma only to have a gigantic, empty map with a solitary vendor that sells literally 2 orchestrion rolls and 1-2 crafting items.

    Or what about those people who got excited at getting to bring their squadron with them into dungeons only for duty assist and trusts to render them obsolete once you got your emotes?

    Won't anyone please think of all those people who were satisfied with eureka's and bozja's open endings that implied that we'd get more story in the future? They're all too comfortable being left without answers!

    I could go on but yeah I 100% agree.

    This is something that I wish SE would realize.

    We have plenty of systems and if they could just expand or innovate on them slightly then they would generate more longevity without necessarily costing a lot of resources.

    If they could expand on guildhests, it could literally act as a pretty good tutorial system, just as it did in low levels. Just a shame there is not any incentive behind it. Same with levequests. Same with Desynthesis, same with Grand Companies, the list of abandoned systems goes on and on and on. Why not expand the essences and logos systems to actually be present outside of exploratory content rather than having it stay an exclusive?

    They still update Expert Recipes but yeah everything else I seriously dislike how it just never gets expanded.

    It be the easiest thing for them to do too since it isnt trying to make new ideas.

    I dont mind essences and logos staying exclusive to Eureka and Bozja though. Gotta make that content SOMEWHAT unique besides just more fate grinds

    Although I will also say. There is legitimate argument for against updating older systems because it could lead to feature creep, because that is a problematic design in MMOs. The last thing we need is to make FFXIV into a chorefest with a bunch of systems just for the players to keep up to date. We've seen this happen before in Battle for Azeroth where this thing was at its worst and it just drove off its playerbase.

    In this case though and in my opinion I do believe that FFXIV could use to at least expand just a few older systems like battle leves to actually be a reliable source for exp again, Bicolor gemstones to pre-Shb zones for more open world activity and Squadrons to give you like a weekly target missions where you can earn some endgame rewards (as well as updating the dungeon list to include SB-EW stuff and probably retool the content to be like trusts because controlling the squad itself is just ass)

    I think that be a good start.

    I enjoyed the Doma system for what it was, and you can still go there to make 20K profit a week if you want some free cash. Usually see people at the donation bin whenever I happen to go there. So it has some ongoing use.

    I thought that's what kept Doma still somewhat useful? I still go there to dump some trash loot and allagan pieces for more cash since the payout is a lot better than just selling it to vendors, so I dont get what the hell OP is talking about with that one. In terms of reconstruction stuff I think its fine that there's an end to its progression and for its endgame to just be an optional supplement for resources.

    Yes exactly my thought process. Will pay you 20K a week for the rest of your time playing XIV just by porting there and back. (Setting it as a favored destination can save you some of the lost profit). Seems like a fine reward for what it was and it was nice doing just for the story even if it had no other use.

    The point is that it's a GIANT map. Like. HUGE but the only useful part of it is a tiny fragment where you can ditch some garbage and buy a couple rolls.

    Aesthetically it isn't that pleasant to look at either because it's very very empty. There's some NPCs but for large stretches of it there's no reason to go anywhere near it except for the odd occasion where you get to see how your work helped them build a farm.

    It's just this big place that's sitting there, rotting, and only used for a quick buck or to hop over to gangos.
