If a new caster job was announced for 7.0, what would it be?

Like many of you, I can't wait for the keynote event for the new expansion info at Fan Fest next month (July 28th).

I don't know what new jobs will be announced at the keynote but if they will be implementing a new caster in 7.0, I'm trying to think what would it be. Are there other color mages out there like Green or Purple mages? Or, a wizard of some sort?

There are probably classes in Final Fantasy's job history they could explore, I know Time Mage is brought up.

I personally would have loved an offensive-based star-magic class. Watching AST's comets do almost no damage is a bit sad. I want spells like Meteor, Stardust, and the like.

Something like Elden Ring's Gravity/Stars/Moon spells would be something I would enjoy. Unfortunately too much overlap with with AST so probably would never get this.

Elementalist would be cool, but BLM and WHM already fulfill this niche. AST is arguably time mage already, and they said they want to make new jobs, not just another FF reference. Maybe something like Mesmer with focus on illusions would be cool, but I doubt they could pull it off. Necromancer is obvious one, but that's already FF job and there is some overlap with summoner.

My guess is that Krile will become this new caster job, just like Alphinaud became SGE. Considering that she's conjurer now, I can see the new job being more on the support side - maybe something like L2's Spellsinger or Warcryer.

I remember them saying no more traditional FF jobs. So they are opting to be more original. However for all we know it could be Green Mage and function like a Green Mage but under a new name.

With how fast leveling is...I wouldn't be upset if it started at level 1. Job quests and all. Would give me something new to do.

I'd actually prefer starting at level 1 again with a full series of story quests. I know there is lore about job stones imparting some knowledge, but I don't love immediately being a master of a new art with no training, just because I'm holding a stone.

Honestly, I'm not sure. They did mention that they want to create jobs unique to ffxiv compared to the rest of the mainline franchise.

I think I'd like something that uses the lightning element for more than just DoT's like Black Mage does. "Stormcaller" or such would be pretty sick

I suddenly had the idea of a mage that eventually builds up to casting Starfall.

Another could take inspiration from Goblez, using shadow and dark magic, perhaps casting meteo. (Yes I know Meteor is already Black Mage's Limit Break, but who cares?)

Maybe a Majorly, "True" Dynamis Class.
(Since it's a "Magic" Thread. I won't bring the Chemical Phys Ranged, Or the DotSurvivalistScoutArmor.)

Ideas can flow endlessly, but something new would need to appear.

Sadly there isn't much we can do to offer variety long as we don't get much change to what a magical ranged can offer.

They already said they won't borrow anymore from already existing jobs from the IP. So i hope we see some truly new jobs.
