No thanks.Dear Ransu! In my previous message, I asked you not to continue the discussion you initiated about whether FOMO exists or not. I politely requested this and pre-apologized if my words might come off as offensive. However, you've chosen to further cultivate this discussion.
Learn to respect others' opinions and their perception of reality. I hope wherever you were raised, they taught you the concept of respect? Or at least the basic idea of respecting other people and their viewpoints? Cease imposing your views and dictating to me or anyone else what's real and what's not.
Wishing you the finest and most splendid day
Bungie took it to a whole new level with Destiny 2.
Removing content that players had paid for (literally deleting legacy story and zones) , repackaging expansions into similar bundles but one has more than the last, then its replaced by another , and now they create "best deal" aka super deluxe/ultimate edition expansion bundles ( the most expensive of course) and if you dont buy them , you have to pay extra for things that have always been a default of a new expansion like the dungeons featured in the new expansion.
They took FOMO from , my buddies are all playing it i gotta buy as well, to , we've had your money and time for so long here is how we guarantee you play ball buy forcing you to buy the ultimate edition of our expansions otherwise you gonna pay more overall for game features.
And people stuck in "sunk cost fallacy" keep paying up.
Take a look at the horror that Destiny 2 has become: https://youtu.be/nsIdPWB2_JA

This is the FOMO that exists in the game.
The last two are a stretch. The seasonal event stuff barely matters. PvP is the worst one. So it's not really that bad in this game.
- Seasonal events. The quests and rewards are no longer available after the event is over, although often the rewards get put on the mog station a year later, so you can pretend you didn't miss the event if you are willing to pay. The rewards sometimes include mounts though.
- PvP has always had FOMO rewards in the form of top 100 rewards, but this recently changed to be series rewards. This is still FOMO, but you have a whole 4 months to get them.
- Housing, because if you own a house (which you don't need to), then you have to keep logging in or it's destroyed so that other people can build one.
- To a lesser extent, raiding is FOMO because hardly anyone will do it in its challenging form after the raid tier is over (after 8 months). It is technically possible to do it with the minimum item level setting if you can get 7 people to help you though.
Seasonal events take literally 30 minutes of your time, out of months between events. It's the most casual content in the game that even people who don't have time for any other content do. You don't need to bother with a house. You can build a static of 7 friends to do old raids with if you put them off for 8 months and miss out.
So it's really just PvP and you can ignore PvP if you want. You may miss out on mounts, minions and glamours from it but you already do, because some rewards like this are exclusive contest rewards for gear/weapon design contests, buying limited-edition music albums, or participating in region-locked events involving retailers such as Amazon or food companies, where the retailer gives you a code to unlock a mount after buying something, or for watching a twitch stream. These events are rare but it means you have to accept there are some rewards you just can't get.
If you are trying to collect all the items in the game, collect websites filter out these time-limited rewards anyway so that you don't have to focus on them.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I would say this is applicable to anything on-content vs post expac. Eureka and Bozja are much different now compared to then for example.
While I don't agree with removing content... that kind of comes with the territory of online only games. It's why I tend to avoid battle passes unless I can get them for free.

It is kinda real. Buts it's a disguise for something else. It's not a fear of missing out. It's a fear of inadequacy or not measuring up to everyone else.
But people miss hundreds of opportunities every day. Almost every minute and always comparing themselves to others. Your friends posted on Facebook they went for lunch but you weren't invited....
Bam missed out... stupid stuff like that. I had the option of taking today off work. Said no forecast was rubbish turns out it's a lovely day and my family are living it up in the garden. Boom I missed out... so what... it's just people obsess over comparing themselves to everyone else instead of just being you.
If Bob has a shiny James can't have. James feels like he's a lesser player than Bob James feels inadequate.. it's literally just people with incredibly low self worth trying endlessly to measure up to everyone else...
People demand things for no reason other than everyone else has it.... and it's destroyed a lot of the game to be honest...
Everything hasn't it's value / significance... even something as sime as ifrits pony mou t. Used to signify you beat the extreme... now it means nothing. You probably got it from the moogle vendor...
Unsync is the worst thing they ever did. As if it never existed then even today players could go do ifrit and get that pony so it's not like it's exclusive or inaccessible.. any perceived rarity would simply be a result of player choices.. but nope instead they destroyed it.
It's not a fear of missing out. It's a fear of not measuring up or being inadequate. Because somehow that shiny someone else has makes them vastly superior to you who doesn't have it...

Not even remotely as bad as it is in many F2P games, where their entire business model revolves around it.

Isn't FOMO just jealousy younger sibling?
I would say it is pretty manageable .enjoy your time and stay in ffxiv
Nobody mentioned the biggest one I think - expansion preorder exp earrings.
When you preorder a new expansion you get unique earings that give you 30% exp boost when you're below the lvl cap of the previous expansion.
These earings have a unique design and you can't get anything else that gives you 30% bonus exp until next expansion drops with another preorder bonus.
