No, Jack is Jack.
No, Jack is Jack.
But why does Jack feel the need to tell other individuals to quit the game? He's not spreading positivity by doing that, he's attempting to remove negativity. If someone wants to give criticism, what's wrong with that exactly? As long as someone is just giving criticism and not trolling or attacking anyone directly, who are they harming exactly? Why does Jack feel the need to tell them to go away? Jack at this point is essentially trying to gatekeep the game from other people who he thinks has nothing they like about the game.Fourth type: Jack says "you've made multiple threads detailing why you dislike the game and regularly make posts in other threads along those lines, while making little mention of what you do like. Perhaps you should find a game more to your tastes."
Jack is not John, though both have fair points – on the one hand, lots of people like the game as it is; on the other, an individual is showing constant dislike of what the other people like.
It is not toxic to suggest that the most likely solution is for the one person to find a different game than to keep expecting this game which they do not like at a deep level will suddenly pivot into something they do, and risk alienating the large number of people who enjoy the game as it currently exists.
Also, nobody gives the "go play another game" line over a single disagreement. People don't tell me to go play another game because I'm griping about Island Sanctuary or whatever. It's only when someone is consistently negative about the big picture of the game that you do have to start wondering why the person is still here and whether they're for some reason stuck in a mental rut that every game should appeal to them personally, when actually it's up to the player to find a game they like.
Its healthy to complain and point out the bad.
But not to the levels that its Obsessive and constant, and turns into Personal Attacks over someone having a different opinion.
I'd say it very much is a form of toxicity, especially when it comes from posters who try to insinuate either intentionally or unintentionally that vocal critics of the game are never positive about anything. There's plenty of things in the game both past and present that even vocal critics point to as things they are fond of and would like to see more of. Interestingly, quite often the ones criticising them in turn at best have no interest in such elements themselves and at worst actively ask for such elements to be removed from the game entirely. It is not toxic to suggest that the most likely solution is for the one person to find a different game than to keep expecting this game which they do not like at a deep level will suddenly pivot into something they do, and risk alienating the large number of people who enjoy the game as it currently exists.
You see this quite often with regards to the more nuanced aspects of the game's story, the presence of stakes and lasting consequences of the game's protagonists and of course content along the lines of Eureka and Bozja. Or particular aesthetics for character designs.
That aside, the only obligation that anyone has when posting here is to follow the established terms of service. The game attracts players from many different countries, backgrounds, cultures, belief systems and personality types. As such, no specific individual is going to be everybody's particular cup of tea - and that's just the way of the world in general.
I, myself, have met many interesting people through this very forum over the years and it's worth noting that just because they use the forum primarily to leave feedback that doesn't mean they're always negative. They're just using the place for its supposed primary purpose.
Just some food for thought, I guess. Take it or leave it.
Agree on most points, what annoys the hell out of me is the constant negativity and some of the useless, worthless smears we see day on day out. What was it.."paypigs" "white knights" etc, the constant trolling and vitriol we see frequently. Stormpeaks continuing abusive, abrasive attitude comes to mind. NO ONE including me has ever said to anyone ":if you dont like it, quit", yet we see this rubbish repeated over and over again as if it has been said frequently.
It HASNT. Show me examples, if it has.
What was it Mr Awesome said? "You are really hung up on that arent you" Yes, I am, actually.
Deliberately misrepresenting, twisting or outright FABRICATING quotes by other players when they have never said it is plain trolling...quite frankly, some of them need to log off for a few days and get a better sense of perspective.
Reality check:
This is a video game.
Thats all it is.
All it will ever be.
The personal attacks need to STOP, IMNSHO a few of these should, if we had better moderation, have been met with suspensions as a message to knock it off.
I listen to a great many people, I read and try to understand peoples viewpoints. Some I agree with, some not, but in all truth the way some conduct themselves here helps NO ONE. it annoys me when said people dont even have the integrity to actually refer to what I actually said, not what they want to twist it to mean.
And yes Stormpeaks, FF 14 is GLOBAL in nature, you get people logging in from all corners of the globe at all hours of the day, so YES , you DO get people from NZ, you DO get people from AU, you get people from Greece, the Mediterranean, China, all of EU, all of OCE, ( which is a REGION if you recall ), NA, people have alts /characters on multiple worlds. .
"Toxic positivity" is a meme, a slur, a smear meant to shout down or shut down people who dare disagree with their nihilistic take. I am sorry they dont enjoy the game, doesnt means others cant. No game anywhere, ever is perfect. I enjoy it, have done since the start. To me FF 14 is far better than a lot of MMOs and other singleplayer games I have seen.
How many times have I said this? Often. Yet here we have members of this forum deliberately miquoting me to say otherwise..which I never did.
I see no issues in being positive, I see no problems with it.
A positive mindset is essential in each day, a negative attitude or approach is conducive to seeing the worst in others AND in yourself , then projecting that to encompass everyone, which Id call a distorted, self defeating process.
If you are going to quote someone, do it accurately. If you have criticism to make, go for it, more power to you. Others may disagree, thats as it should be. The phrase "toxic positivity" has come to mean "Its all bad the game sucks and Ill attack you if you dare say otherwise".
Personally, I am here for the duration, will be here for 6.41 and beyond.
BTW Theodric, re Bozja and Eureka, I never want to see them removed, but can ALSO see why they werent repeated this time around.
If you have an issue: address the message, not the messenger.

Im sorry you cant read half a page of text. Might want to look at getting that fixed someday, especially if you want to get any degrees. The books they have are more than half a page with no pictures, and you will need to read them all.
Unfortunately your temper tantrums aint worth reading, so I will not, feel free to give me a TLDR
Why do you have so much time posting here when you claim you have so much to do ingame? 2k posts in 2 years WoW refugee.
To be fair, china has their own game. Cause it's china. WoW had to change too back then to their culture, i think mostly to not show undead creatures or so cause that is wrong in the chinese culture? And we outsiders can't even access that game. And yes Stormpeaks, FF 14 is GLOBAL in nature, you get people logging in from all corners of the globe at all hours of the day, so YES , you DO get people from NZ, you DO get people from AU, you get people from Greece, the Mediterranean, China, all of EU, all of OCE, ( which is a REGION if you recall ), NA, people have alts /characters on multiple worlds. .
