Rewarding Cooperation in Open World Content

    Hello,

So I was thinking about Open World HNMs and other similiar content and remember one of the issues being:

You had to CLAIM the critter in order for you (or your party) to win its drop (or get credit for its kill). This resulted in rivalry amongst parties in order to get the claim and kill. This of course boiled down to: Who could provoke the fastest?

What if we switched to an entirely different model: Anyone can claim, anyone can contribute to the fight, and everyone who contributes gets a reward?

    For example:
A party of 8 claims the HNM on pop and starts fighting it. Another party of 8 comes by, and decides to help kill the HNM, so they start attacking. A passing ministrel comes by and sees two parties in trouble and also jumps into the fray and tries healing/raising people.

    The 'System' would keep track:
Everyone who did damage to the HNM.
Everyone who healed anyone who did damage to the HNM.
Everyone who buffed anyone who is or was or will be doing damage to the HNM within a specific period of time.
(In essence, anyone who contributed to the battle).

For everyone who did the above action, they would get a 'point'. Once enough 'points' were gathered they would get a blinking light or something to indicate they have succesfully contributed to the battle sufficiently to be rewarded its drop and credit for the kill.

Everyone who participated sufficiently would then be entitled to an equal chance of getting a drop (which could go to a loot list for sharing).

So in the above scenario, if the passing Ministrel raised a couple of people and helped heal them for a bit and sang some songs, he would be able to share equally in the spoils of the battle.

I understand Alliances are comming, but that still does 'restrict' it to people who are in that alliance (which will usually be a single LS).

I think this system could help alleviate parties (or linkshells) fighting for claim.
This system could also help encourage passer-bys (or people without a big LS to take on HNMs) to help share in the battle.
And this could help create scenarios where even an Alliance is not enough to take out an HNM.

And (most importantly for me) it would help create an environment where people, regardless of their LS, can just meet each other, help each other, and still enjoy the rewards without any downside of 'sharing'.

I am curious if I am missing something and what others may think.

    Thank you.

Balance becomes an issue with this concept since then you run into the problem that content will be to easy since large groups can take down open world foes and they all can obtain rewards from it. They wouldn't really be acting for the sake of teamwork but it would turn into the same issue like the old "skillup" lv system that 14 had. They would hold the mob to cap out their potential reward and then kill it.

Open world claiming will/should fix itself come 2.0 in which it should take on a more FFXI concept.
