I'm unhappy with the new store mount "Shadow Wolf" (for story reasons)

I certainly have my narrative criticisms with FF14, from the excessive focus on Ul'dah to the horrible handling of Duskwight characters, but this was something I felt like I finally needed to speak up for:
The decision to add the Shadow Wolf as a store mount.

Not because "grr store mounts bad", nor even because it's a raid boss.

I'm upset because it's more than a random raid boss, it's a significant part of several questlines, seeded all the way back in HW.

To know the full story of the Shadow Wolf (which isn't its name, but I'll call it that for simplicity here), a player must do the full HW post leveling MSQ, the HW Trial series, the ShB role quests, the ShB raid series, and all the follow up quests given in the Crystarium after you finish the HW Trials and ShB role quests.
Edit: One could even make the strained argument that it appeared in the 1.0 trailer of FF XIV.

The Shadow Wolf played a significant role in the lore, literally a key part of the impetus for ShB's events.

Usually, mounts or pets of this story caliber are tied to questline awards, such as Midgardsomr, Maggie, or even the Yol, etc.

While I'd personally prefer if the Shadow Wolf had been a quest reward, I wouldn't begrudge it appearing as a reward tied to the ShB raids in some fashion, as it would at least still relate to its own story importance there.

But to make it a store mount divorces it of all story importance. It isn't even called by its true name. Awarding mounts/pets after you understand their story significance is something FF XIV generally does really well, but this is a very disappointing missed opportunity.

I realize it's too late to undo this mistake, but I beg that this not be repeated in the future.

Good, and hopefully more people complain about it, it shouldnt even be on the mog shop anyway, and on top of that they couldnt even be arsed to put a custom music that is relevant to its lore, absolute laziness

Kind of funny how different the west and JP complain. When JP has an issue, they just make one long long thread. West, just makes multiple of the same thread. I guess some people feel their complaints are more special than others.

Given how Sleipnir was the first mount on the Store I think, it does not surprise me they would do this and whilst it is good to see an outcry about this, I doubt they will change their tune anytime soon. Like any big company in this capitalist hellhole, if they can squeeze money out of it, they will do that over more creative means.

Custom music relevant to it’s lore?… like the FF8 cover in it’s boss fight? Cause that is so lore accurate…
