And yet Activision/Blizzard has a queue per server and not a queue per battlegroup (back when they were a thing) so guess who's ahead ?

Also you cant tell me that this doesnt make the game look better even tho it's an actual lie, they literally are lying on the screen by telling you that the server is full, and when you arrive in the game there's 5 people in Limsa.

Remove the lie from the login screen about the servers being full, and then sure, until then, it's made to make people feel that the game has more population than it does.

I think u just don't know how login servers work u just want to fight with people on the forums that is just thing to do as we all know the log in servers are for whole data center not just for one server. If you comment back to me I won't respond.

The login queues are literally fake, the servers slow down the logins on purpose to make it seem like the servers are full but they arent, that's the reason why at 5 AM on Sagittarius which is an absolute dead server that was open recently you get 30 people queues, yet it's 5 in the morning.

Because its not the server that is full, its the login server that is processing players in chunks across the data center.

I will respond with what has already been said as I have nothing to add

The servers cant handle more than 5 people logging in at the same time. So even just bots crashing and relogging causes those fake login queues. Has the "bonus" effect of making people believe the game is more popular than it is.

I understand why they do the login queue, I just don't understand why they haven't rewritten the message that's displayed so that it doesn't lie and say the world is full. It could just say "logging in, please wait" or something.

If the impression from that is "OMG the game must be so full and popular" - Then I would argue those people are lost.

They aren't really faked, the logins are arguably just done in a buffer so that simultaneous login requests cannot effectively DDoS other players in the queue, or from the world itself. They would be entirely separate, in this regard it's just a misleading message to say the world is full. But then arguably most people would conflate the message anyway, in that most people would see login server queue as being synonymous with "The world must be full"

Edit: It's hardly done with an intent to 'fake' numbers or to give some mystical weight to the worlds/game being more popular than it is. From an infrastructure/networking PoV, there are pretty clear reasons why such a system is and would be in place.
