Why Are We Still Experiencing Login Queues?

I don't understand why login queues are still a thing. Obviously, it's been an issue during periods of high player counts following an expansion, and that makes sense. Also, some servers are more populated than others; thus, on worlds like Gilgamesh or Hyperion, a login queue makes reasonable sense. However, EW is in its twilight period so player counts aren't nearly as high as they would be post xpac. Furthermore, we recently saw the addition of a new NA Data Center. I transferred to Halicarnassus about 2 months ago and can unequivocally confirm that the server is pretty empty, yet I get put into a queue every time I load up the game.

So, why are we still waiting in line to log in? If there are server queues at this point in the middle of an expansion patch cycle, are we headed for another mess of 2002 and 3001 errors when 7.0 comes around?

This isn't a rant. I'd genuinely like to know if someone out there has the answer.

Just to clarify, I'm not a free trial player.

The queues are there because the login server doesnt process every login at once. It processes them one after another.

It's just a buffer to prevent overload if there is high volume. The servers aren't full.

The login queues are literally fake, the servers slow down the logins on purpose to make it seem like the servers are full but they arent, that's the reason why at 5 AM on Sagittarius which is an absolute dead server that was open recently you get 30 people queues, yet it's 5 in the morning.

I have a hunch its probably just a DDOS prevention thing.

Nothing to do with them pretending the dead server is full, it's just to circumvent hundreds logging in at once and DDOSing the login service.

The servers cant handle more than 5 people logging in at the same time. So even just bots crashing and relogging causes those fake login queues. Has the "bonus" effect of making people believe the game is more popular than it is.

    It's a buffer.

It doesn't mean that the server is full, it just handles logins in batches as to help with managing to load from simultaneous login queues. If I recall this was a measure introduced to essentially prevent the logging servers from crashing when under strenuous load - For example, new patch, new expansion, and/or when popular content creators join the game.

It's not really designed for 'current' load I would say, but rather the potential for a significant load, where it tends to scale better.

    This
Its really telling how much you hate something when you're really start to stretch your takes so thin. Who in the hell in the development team even thinks to put in queue times JUST so that the server looks good. This is beyond childish reasoning.
