I am playing FFXIV on PC, not via Steam. And a few weeks back while playing I had my internet cut out, came back quickly and logged in, then power went out. Came back on, windows downloaded an update, then I got back in the game.
However the game was now reading the buttons on my controller all wrong. I checked the button mapping and it was correct, I did an in game calibration and that fixed most of it. But the camera began rotating slowly as if the right analog had drift. And the RT+LT could no longer be pressed in unison (the game would register trying to do so as neither being pressed, making the extended cross hot bar impossible to use).
My controller is an Xbox 1 wireless, but I play with it wired/plugged in.
So far I have tried,
1) Re-calibrating in game, and in windows. No change.
2) Uninstalling and reinstalling controller drivers. No change.
3) Testing controller on different games, works perfectly fine for everything else.
4) Tested with another controller, an Xbox 360 wireless, exact same issues. Fine on all games except FFXIV, where the exact same issues occur.
5) Downloaded a game pad tester to check both controllers, both are working fine with no sign of drift or other problems.
6) Resetting System Settings on XIV launcher. No change.
7) Complete reinstall of FFXIV. No change.
8) Try different USB ports, no change.
9) Disable other drivers except controller, no change.
10) Adjusted options like sensitivity in XIV controller options, no change.
11) Disabled Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator, no change.
12) Undid the Windows Update, no change.
13) Attempted to play game via Steam as a non steam game, and use steam's controller settings to override XIV. XIV simply does not recognize the controller as existing at all in that case.
Might be a few things I'm not even think of that I already tried.
I went through all of this via email support, which finally recommended I try the forums, phone, or live chat. Similar issues to what I'm having I have seen from people playing via Bluetooth, but I'm using the controller wired, and do not have BT on my PC anyways.
