    I'll save judgement for 2.0, but agree that Yoshi-p does seem very contradictory at time, saying how things will be made more user friendly and intuitive and then adding the nonsense lucky dip that is Relic.

    His promises better be fulfilled in 2.0 or he's going to have a lot of angry players on his hands.

    I love how the double standard is placed on Yoshi's head and not where it belongs: The devided player base.

    We've got one group that insists that they want to go through an arduously stressful process of reaching specific gear limits, and another who insists that awesome pieces should just fall out of the sky.

    Yoshi is trying to satasfy both, but ultimately is leaving both rather frustrated, because, guess what's the medium between hard process and quick results? Sheer, dumb, luck.

    Honestly if people would sit and work out agreements with each other more we wouldn't have half the issues we have, because we'd have a clear, concise way of saying "Hey, this is what we don't like, this is what we want, and this is some ideas on how to get it done, and we agree this will work out for us." But instead, we polarize the base and argue with each other.

    It's hard to make content for both casual and hardcore without ticking off one or another. (Or both). Steady progress gets called grinding. Timely rewards get's called coddling, and Skinner Boxes get called Time Sinks.

    Seriously, take a pen and paper down and read the ideas that are brought up and watch how quickly they get shot down, you wind up with pages of exed material.

    I sure don't want pieces of gear to be handed to us, I want to work for my loot, not play a luck based RNG which is basically what the whole concept for this game is up to this point. (there is a middle ground in making gear take time but not making it outright obnoxious to get)

    There is a separate thread about this so I won't go on about it, you suggest for us to be more willing to meet half way but neither side wants to do that.

    For example there are people who don't like instance and some who love it you will never get those people to see eye to eye or meet half way.

    I agree that Yoshi-p has a hard task in satisfying both crowds and that's probably why he shouldn't, he should just grow a pair and make a choice in what direction he wants to take his game, sure he may lose some players (that could include me) but at least then he would have a game that was directed at a certain type of gamer.

    I love the idea of extreme Ifrit for example, but why would you exclude it to only people who are doing the relic quests /sigh.

    It's ok Elex, I have no problem placing the blame on you.

    The real double standard are these people saying the only options are incredibly random drops with exceedingly painful fights, or 100% drops and bosses you one-shot.

    Much like SE, these players have never been introduced to a little something called middle ground. They see anything that makes the game more equitable as "easy mode" and blame those filthy casuals for destroying everything. (Let's face it, it's only the "hardcores" who seriously believe it's a choice between these two extremes or nothing at all.)

    Guys. Ifrit drops aren't that bad. In 15 total wins, I got 5 totems and the Claws. That's about on par with XI's drop rate.

    Maybe you* should win those hundreds of runs you claim you go without getting drops. That, or stop hyperbolizing.

    Honestly, I doubt I'd be getting much out of this game right now if it weren't for the fact that I'm playing it pretty consistently with a group of friends. Shelving the game until 2.0 hits might not be a bad idea; 1.xx isn't for everyone, they've been pretty clear and open about their design goals for the interim game all along.

    Edit: Why can't the game have both easy-to-obtain stuff -and- ridiculously hard and/or grindy stuff like Relics? (And, ideally, a gradient in between the two.) This entire forum is an exercise in strawmen and false dichotomies, and given their limited resources to put into 1.xx, I really don't understand where it's coming from.
