Not lock on target tatgeting me

This is a bit embarrassing since I've played this game for years, but in PvP, apparently when someone is targeting me, and I don't have a target, I automatically target them and lock onto them.

This is annoying af to say the least when you try to escape. And never figured out how to turn this off. Is it even possible?

I've never experienced this and I don't believe such an option exists for this.
I don't mean to sound accusatory, but uh... what else are you running with FFXIV?

You could always upload it unlisted to youtube. That's what I do for bug reports.

After going through some "evidence" it looks like the auto-lock is a result of me pushing the L3 button accidentally (not sure how I do it this often lol). But if you have no target, and someone uses a skill on you, they will appear as your target, that's 100% true, and I guess there is no way to turn that off.
