It's people being so tech illiterate that they think remote desktop plays the game for you. What would make it cheating? You are still manually pressing your buttons just like you would on pc or ps. We are allowed to play on steam deck too and i haven't heard of any rule that says that you can't use remote apps (now i'm kinda curious about it and wan't to try crafting using my phone and some remote apps it sounds really fun). If there is some rule about this could someone please share it?
As far as i know there are some 3rd party add ons that are way too commonly used that queue macros and allow you to craft for hours without pressing any buttons which obivously are really bad thing and botting maybe your friend is confusing crafting with botting add ons and crafting with remote apps?
or its people that read the OP.
is crafting grindy? yes it is, remote or not, as someone said its the exact same thing, a process. point being, if you really find it grindy, and it has been dumbed down almost into submission, its not likely to change further to become less so.
but the OP was saying the FC mate threw a "hissy fit" which is fine. its their account, their time, if THEY think its cheating, there will be even less enjoyment. the OP should really have said "okay, your call" and walked away instead of posting on the forum. doesnt matter what forum dwellers say or think about it, its not their account
I think macros should only ever result in NQs.
And what benefit will this serve? An increased skill gap that rewards others who "make it their own way"? Nah, people would just read sequenced abilities off their other monitor and manually input them.
Macros boil down to being purely QoL, and that's not the kind of thing you strip from a game you want to be successful.
Actually, I did do just that. I didn't really press the issue and I have no plans to do so. I'm not going to show them this thread and try to use it as evidence or anything.or its people that read the OP.

I just wanted to see other peoples opinions on the matter.
all good. they were likely misinterpreting it to mean "unattended play"
Automation outside the game with crafting grants an advantage, some may think that, that part is in the grey zone, but that part is certainly in the Red Zone, meaning one mistake could cost you, your account.or its people that read the OP.

Remote-Desktop just allows you to access your machine from another device there is no automation involved.
for example, I remote into my Steam Deck so I can use my PC's mouse and keyboard when I need to do stuff in its Linux desktop mode because using the Deck's own controls is a huge pain in desktop mode.
