    It was on the stream which has ended, but there's lots of info flying around, they showed a video of the new UI, and said that classes will be able to have new abilities. (There was a problem wherein DRG for example had hit the cap of available abilities, that's why things had to share timers) They then went on to say that a lot of old systems are going to be completely revamped with the release of the expansion pack.

    Rune Fencer sounds like a WoW Clone Death Knight to me.

    The death knight uses a unique rune-based resource system to govern his/her spells and abilities. Three rune types exist: blood, frost, and unholy, each with an attached color and symbol. Using certain abilities exhausts one or more runes, starting a cooldown of 10 seconds. After the cooldown, the runes refresh. The death knight can use spells to turn a rune into a Death Rune, which can be used as a blood, frost, or unholy rune. In addition, whenever the death knight uses a rune ability against a foe, it builds up a certain amount of Runic Power. This Runic Power is only used by few abilities.     Rune knight will be a tank, RDM was never intended to be a tank, althought it in some specific situations could act like one. In the current game, you do not invite RDMs if you need a tank, so this job doesn't really take much away from RDM.

    In related news, they are planning on possibly revamping the entire enfeeble system and make it better. That could mean RDM can have fun with their enfeebles actually working on important shit again.

    Assuming they add some new tier non-merit Enfeebles with a cap well above the Teir I and II's counterparts otherwise other jobs will still hit that cap too easily with T1's to really merit letting RDM in for a sub-par boost with the T2 enfeebles. This of course is also assuming they stop using mobs that only spam TP moves, or make Enfeebling skill worth something besides M.Acc.

    But I digress, RDM over the years has had literally streams of good ideas to help overhaul or buff the job into at least a respectable position within a group, however many of those ideas got taken and given to other jobs like BLU, SCH, and even WHM and BLM. Now RDM has another potential enfeeble/hybrid job to compete with in an already unforgiving role, and another job that will likely take the magic fencer role away from RDM WHICH Tanaka and his crew never gave any honest effort into implementing right to begin with despite everything in RDM lore pointing directly to it.

    Agreed. It's discouraging to see them do something like this, to be honest. At one point I would have said that we should wait and see what is to come to the other jobs in the expansion, but...meh.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
